  1. what's that? that everything is dumb?
  2. ouch dude. what a story!
  3. oh my god; i'm going to agree with erik - dynastar's rock!
  4. Evogear just get a ski that's good for the way you ski and the type of stuff you want to ski. both my AT setup and my tele setup are on "alpine" skis. and yeah; what fern says - boots first, then bindings, then skis. or if you're like me, you can just use your alpine boots and get bindings first and then skis. i'm still looking for AT-specific boots that will fit me, but i haven't had any problems at all skinning in my alpine boots.
  5. i don't have a problem climbing with someone who only uses nuts. good nut placements are bomber, and i often find them just as quick (if not sometimes quicker) to place as a cam. some of you fuckers are so lazy! i followed a number of climbs before i started leading. you can get an pretty good idea of what the placements should look/feel like that way. you can also have others follow you and critique. i am always surprised at how shitty some people's gear placements are, though! and like somebody up there said, aid climbing can be a great way to learn about placing gear. oh, and if you don't feel comfortable putting your weight on a piece statically, adjust it until you do! they're not for looks ...
  6. haven't seen bugs yet ... but i feel the allergies knocking. :-(
  7. i think there's more than one model with a toe loop. i was wondering more about the sole.
  8. hmm ... i wonder if this the problem with my skins/skis. i can't get my clips to stay on either and i thought i wasn't getting the length right somehow. maybe i'll shoot them an email about it. just curious - what skis were you using?
  9. which chaco's are best for friction climbing? approaches?
  10. i prefer a nice rare tender cut of some sort with a strong "beefy" red wine. yeah ... life IS good.
  11. my feet aren't that small, but i wear a mondo 22 shell. most AT bootmakers only make a 24 - although some claim a 23 by putting a smaller liner in them. i just realized this thread wasn't specifically about AT boots - doh! i'm sure i could find a "regular" plastic boot to fit (just under a US women's 6.5), but i was talking AT boots. i need an AT boot!
  12. i generally carry both cord and webbing in varying lengths ... since you never know what's up. literally.
  13. that must mean you have to work, eh? it's warm enough here to be hitting rock for sure, bg. why don't you come back and show me the local crags?
  14. they don't even make a shell small enough for me to begin with! wtf?
  15. you can also troll for partners on rockclimbing.com. [gasp!] it was useful for me for california climbing and i've met some rather fun people via that site.
  16. i spent 1.5 hours skinning some "fresh tracks" up a nice piece of corduroy this morning.
  17. sometimes you just need a time-out ... you get stuck in a rut and it becomes less enjoyable. there have been days where i've been sick of skiing - and i love skiing more than just about anything else in the world. life is cyclical so don't fret! find a new climb you wouldn't normally do, go climbing with someone who inspires you or pushes you more than you normally push yourself, take some time off until you miss it, try a new sport for awhile ... lots and lots of options. mix it up, don't be so hard on yourself, and enjoy life!
  18. that's not rumr's style. he's more of a kind of guy.
  19. ha ha ... not likely. he's a rock climber tried and true.
  20. i think rumr needs some love ...
  21. i LOVE this picture ...
  22. rumr lazy? what has this world come to?
