stop teasing me! the skiing doesn't suck here. the lack of freshies may, though. ps - jackson hole was my first choice of a place to work. they just didn't have any "decent" jobs to apply for this year.
i've talked to quite a few people here who ski the freeride with an alpine/downhill boot - both inbounds and for backcountry touring. they like the control better going down the hill and say it's not too much of a "pain" for touring unless there's a lot of flat traversing.
i totally get ya, alpinek. i miss the northwest already, but i'm glad to be able to check out a new area and i'm psyched to be here. sure miss having freshies already, though!
what are you talking about? i have lots of respect for the colorado backcountry! i guess that didn't come out right when i said i wasn't scared of it. that's not really what i meant. it's scary; i just definitely plan to take advantage of it - terrain and avy danger and all that other jazz fully considered. didn't mean to posture; i'm just super-excited about what's out here to be explored. that's all.
if you've never heard of it, it's a little place out here in colorado. 100% advanced/expert terrain ... and they're not kidding. check it out! i helped bootpack this weekend. got to hike all the way to the top yesterday since it was too windy for them to run their lift. man was that work!!! but man will it be worth it to come back and ski a day there for free this season!
i'm not scared of the colorado backcountry. that was one of the draws of moving way the hell out here. still looking for boots. and what's the use of having a binding that doesn't go steep? i like it steep and deep.
high life's great ski porn!
i've talked to some more people about the freerides and i think they'll work fine for me. i'm aggressive, but i'm small and lightweight so i don't think i have to worry about the strength of the binding not being enough for me. apparently i have another issue at hand - nobody seems to make beefy at boots in my size!!!
as for the "posers" you'll find ripping up the great terrain crystal has to offer, they probably can't stand the likes of you either.
geez; i'm going skiing ...
so get the f'k off your computer and go get some turns in!
i finally hiked for my first of the season yesterday. sure will be nice when the lift outside starts running ...
you should be able to work something out with rei.
sounds like the fritschi's are not going to work for my inbounds and park skiing. oh, well; i figured as much. guess i'm going to have to have two separate rigs after all. man does it suck to have to spend all that money just to avoid having to carry my alpine gear in the bc!
i like strong beer. well, i should say the beers i like are usually strong. (i can't wait to see how drunk one beer's gonna get me in telluride!)
the sausagefest was fun. good sausages all around.
wayne, you were there ('cause i didn't get there until after you) ... but yeah, that's forrest_m with the bald spot. next time we should wear name tags; i didn't get to meet nearly half of y'all!
