    Nerd Question

Actually from what I have heard, the interference from the cell phones and all that stuff is not really too bad for the avionics. There is a slight potential, but it is a minimal potential, for interference. For instance, Sept 11, a bunch of people on those flights were using their phones, and they flew just fine... In the end, I think it the FAA is being better safe than sorry when it comes to those. the interference testing that avionics go through before they ever fly is beyond what 99.9999% of any of them will ever see in real life.

    Limbaugh and racisim

Rush makes BIG bucks selling his own tie line. For the most part, everyone of them that I have seen is ugly beyond belief.

  5. I am glad that they don't Gri-Gris are not a bely device that people should learn on. I think they are great for some situations, but they really teach poor belay habits. Then the beginners go to buy their gear and can't afford one, and end up with an ATC, and then they head out to the crag, and the bad habits are there. Not paying attention, not holding the brake hand the whole time. I've seen this too often with new climbers... Gri-Gri's are great, but everyone should learn how to belay on a non-auto device...

  9. Doh, I guess I just haven't been looking in the right places. Maybe if I haven't been living under this rock for so long, I might actually own a 100 meter rope.

bend is so not trendy Compared to what? I remember visiting bend 10-15 years ago before most of the golf courses moved in. It was a nice small town. I agree, it is still better than most, but it is far from being laid back
  12. I'm all up for picnicking and stargazing. Anyone up for a month trip to Cave rock with me. We leave tomorrow!!
  13. I didn't think sport climbs topped out? Actually, even leading it on an 85 meter is a long f%$king rope. I have seen many 70 meter ropes. Most spools of rope you can buy are more towards the gym side of things and are almost static, so he would not want to climb on one of these. Maybe since he is such a big stud, the rope company made a few special ropes for him, so they could get some advertisement value out of him.
  14. so where does one buy a 170 meter rope, or at least a couple 85 meter ropes so that he could get down... That is one hell of a long rappel...

    View From Work

Well if I walk outside, I get a good view of Baker, and the olympics. Otherwise, just some boring cube walls that are in dire need of some pics.

The Dalles, Oregon of course. It is far from being a trendy town like Hood River or Bend. It is still small and has some character, and is not too far away from climbing.

    family and friends

I love showing my mom pictures of me sleeping on my portaledge, completely scares the shit out of her. Basically, she understands that I climb, and I am safe, and she tries not to think about it, even though I climb all the time... My dad, well he just laughs and enjoys it all.

    Airline Stories

My scariest flight, which was also a bit fun now that it is over, was down in Peru. The flight from Lima to Cuzco. It was on an old 737-200, which was missing a few pieces of the interior, with the insulation showing on, and a few wires as well. Cuzco is over 8,000 feet high in the Andes, and boy can those pilots fly. They fly almost like a small plane, tightly banking the corners through the mountains, and all of a sudden dropping down and landing. What a ride...
