As i stated earlier, I also have a mac and it's a no go for the chat room java deal. I'm starting to feel a bit left out, as an outcast of the chat society. I've been invited, but I can't get in....
what's worth more to you the price of two beacons (maybe you can get your buddies to go in on part of the price...) or you being found alive, as opposed to a body recovery?
I would buy two...
If you buy a transceiver it will do you no good if your buddies don't have one. I think that it's a good idea if you can afford it to buy two... Second bounce is a great place to find them or (shiver) the mountaineers swap meet thingies. And I have to agree with the Beckster, Practice lots. Have someone bury it somewhere, hide one in the house, on the beach (put it in a ziplock first) or even practice in snow.
Overboots may be too much for any cascade climbing, but I guess that depends on if you are climbing in the worst possible weather, or in basic everyday nasty coldness. Plastics are probably the boot of choice, I've never liked them for around here, but they are warm and stay dry. I think as long as you have on the appropriate gear, a pair of gaitors and leather boots would be fine. It's not like you're gonna be up there for several weeks at a time....
Dwayner,
sorry man, but I believe that the proper terminolgy is "foot bag." I have several aquaintances that have been "nationally ranked" foot bag "athletes"(?), however I agree that this is a pretty useless "sport".
Woohoo!! Freshies in West Seattle, woke up to about an inch of snow on the ground, and felt icky. A good time was had at the Owl last night...
Oh yeah, FRESHIES!!!
Anne, Will and Holly? sounds like the Land of the Lost.... any sleestacks?
Make sure to drink a few for me, maybe we should plan a road trip to P-town for a weekend pub club.
Does this mean that we will soon be able to buy wicker furniture featuring TNF logo? Which would go great into TNF chevy(?) Avalanche! And maybe I could pick up some candles, and picture frames there too?
Yay.
The Owl and Thistle is in Post Alley. If one can get to the downtown area of seattle, they would travel to Columbia street from 5th avenue coming south and proceed to turn DOWN the hill on Columbia, stay to the very right (do not get on 99 south, you'll just end up in west seattle), at the stop sign look for some parking, and the Owl is in the alley to the north and east of the stop sign.
or
I hope this works....
Owl and Thistle is cool with me, the other Irish bar is now called FADO, It's not as dirty and the beer is not nearly as warm...
I would offer to give anyone a ride, but I work directly upstairs in the same building!!!
I'm currently in a soft rock 70's kinda thing, Seals and Crofts, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot (a canadien by the way), Dan Fogelberg, blah, blah...
although the old standby is RATT "out of the cellar", it's almost too butt rockin'.
