Judged events are not sport. Are they highly trained athletes? Yes! Is it competition? Yes! But not sport. Sports to me is when individuals or teams go head to head and the best one beats the others! Yeah, but I'm trying to think of a sport that doesn't have officials who make decisions about whether play is fair and who affect the game's result. And don't offer climbing, which is recreation and not sport.

Yeah, the rock is kind of shitty, but if 3rd/4th class mountaineering and glacier travel is your thing, the Olympics do NOT suck.

(Urban Climber:Alpinist)=(Game Boy News:NFL Digest). I win, right?

Wouldn't that be "Espresso----->Americano"?

I'm offended by the cc.commie who smoked the meat doobie at the Muir Hut.

Last night's controversy was unparalleled .

You sound young...I think I understand your attitude. I'm only offereing advice that eventually made an enormous amount of sense to me when I heard it. I was lucky enough to have survived many ropeless climbs without paying a price. I hope you live to realize there are many experiences in life even more satisfying than high-risk climbing.

If you read carefully, you will note that my post responds to Deschristo's statement: You see, I'm not implying Dechristo is a soloist, or that bouldering has something to do with soloing, as you suggest (although any time a fall off a boulder results in a serious back injury, you have to question whether you have crossed the line from bouldering into free soloing). Decrhisto has decided that Wally's advice some how infringes on the personal freedom of a solo climber, and Decrhisto charges that Wally doesn't understand (or perhaps doesn't remember) what "climbing is all about". Decrhisto is the guy making assertions and logical leaps, and so are you.

Fairweather, if you think Dole is the real deal, why don't you write him in? Sure he was severely wounded, but we're not comparing his misfortune to our next President's. Let's continue to examine the only two possibilities instead of continually talking about Clinton's lack of combat duty or Dole's serious injuries. Furthermore, whether or not you think Dole is even remotely qualified to judge Kerry's combat record, you must admit that those who served IMMEDIATELY next to him are MOST QUALIFIED (as in the account Will pasted above). The guy I'm pretty sure you're voting for doesn't have a combat record. He has a criminal record... is that the kind of thing you admire? Kerry volunteered for combat when the frat boy you're going to vote for was probably AWOL. Why don't you just be honest and say, "George W. is a miserable excuse for a leader, probably a poorer choice than Kerry, but I'm going to vote for him because of what his party represents." That would be refreshingly honest.

Bouldering.com girl:"Senator, have you heard of Climbers for Kerry? They're a group of environmentally conscious youths who are going to climb the Captain to help you 'take back North America' this fall." Senator Kerry:Who f#cking cares? You kids certainly know how to piss into the wind.

Exactly. Fairweather's link reveals that an even more respectable vet is disgusted with the Swiftboat Vets for Deception add:

I don't know about upgrading to 5.10a on the last pitch. Sure it's a hard and sustained pitch, especially after grunting up the previous pitch (which I thought was harder) and after the long hike in. Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I think that if the last pitch of Burgner-Stanley existed right off the ground, right next to Godzilla, it would probably be considered the easier between the two. I think the last pitch on the Burgner-Stanley has multiple 5.9 moves with adequate rests in between. For another comparison, think about classic 5.10- pitches such as Davis Holland (pitch 2) and Caboose at the Malamute.

Those people are soooo brave and inspirational. I can tell you that they have definitely affected my political orientation.

True dat. Furthermore, these days he's small-time, posting a link or two a week at best.

If I wanted to look at a turd pope I'd look in the toilet. The drivel you've posted is uglier than the last one I dropped. And you're sure you weren't looking at your reflection?
-
Sorry, but it ain't you either. Your'e small-time compared to the fish I've got on the line here.
-
Sorry to disappoint you but it ain't you, sport. Have a Life Saver, kid.

Why don't you just pinch yourself off and flush? When your opinion matters to me, I'll let you know.

I've been out of the cc.com closet for a long time, thanks to somebody ...somebody to whom I am considering returning the favor. I've learned the true identity of a true spray lord and I can barely keep the secret. If you think I'm talking about you, send me a PM and convince me why I shouldn't out you.

(WE WERE BORN FREE, BUT, NOW WE ARE NOT FREE ANYMORE!) "Opal, you hot little bitch!" "You can take this pin n' hang it in yer ass!" "You ain't the devil!" "Where's my waitress?" Did y'all want some more? OK, here's some more. Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again They took a whole bunch of acid So they could see where it's at (It's over there, over there, Over there, over there And underneath also) They lived on a whole bunch of nothing They thought they looked very good They'd never ever worry They were always in a hurry To convince themselves that what they were Was really very groovy Yes, they believed in all the papers And the magazines that defined their folklore They could never laugh At who or what they thought they were Or even what they thought They sorta oughta be They were totally empty (Totally empty) And their lives were really useless So what the fuck? They didn't have no sense of humor Now they got nothing left To laugh about Including themselves Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again They were mellow They were yellow They were wearing smelly blankets They looked like Donovan fans They walkin' 'round With stupid flowers In they hair and everywhere They tried to stuff 'em up the guns Of all the cops And other servants of the law Who tried to push 'em around And later moved 'em down But they were full of all that shit That they believed in So what the fuck? (What the fuck?) Now I've seen 'em tightenin' up they headbands On the weekend And they get loaded When they came to town They walked around in Greenwich Village To buy posters they could hang up In them smelly little secret Black light bedrooms On Long Island Singin': "Jimi come back!" Now come back and regulate the boy's fuzz-tone Your haze was so purple It caused your axis to be bold as love Now Jimi (feed back) gimme some feedback Come back and feed back on my knapsack You can feed back the fuzz tone from your wah-wah While you bend down And set your stuff on fire Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again We can turn it around We can do it again We can go back in time Through the canyons of your mind On the eve of destruction We can act like we are Something really special You just jump in the bath-tub With that other guy Jim And make him be more careful We can visit Big Mama And wrap her on the back When she eats her sandwich (La la la la) We can take care of Janis When she gets so depressed She can't take it no more We can laugh at Keith Moon's jokes (Ha ha ha ha ha) And the colour TV (Ha ha) He threw out the windum From the second floor Everybody come back No one can do it like you used to If you listen to the radio And what they play today You can tell right away: All those assholes really need you! Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again Turn and turn Turn and turn We're turning again
