More garage cleaning. Since getting a new pack in a similar size, this one hasn't been getting out. It's a BD Ice Pack in the 44l size. Tool tubes, crampon pouch, bivy pad, removable waist belt and lid pouch combine to form a fanny pack. In good shape. $65.00 or best offer. Send a PM if interested.

Cleaning out the garage and found some skis in good shape. Rossignal 193cm with good Marker Bindings. $25.00 obo, send a PM if interested.

Light weight Goretex type jacket. Not sure if it's actually goretex or some proprietary laminate. However, it's fully seam taped, lightweight, taped seams and if you can put up with the graphics, it's yours for $35.00. Worn once to dig a snowcave. I just have too many coats and need to thin out the closet. Send me a PM if interested.

Size 44 (10 -10.5), worn a couple times. I really like the boots, they just aren't wide enough for my 4EE foot. Great for those mid-fifth routes. $60 or best offer. Send a PM if interested.

that there thermal knit cotton is good too. That's what I wore for years durring the winter on jobsites. I have the same mix of powerdry, poly pro and wool as you Dru. I usually wear whatever is clean or stinks less. I do prefer the zip neck tops for ventilation. I picked up one of those mountain hardon super duper long handle shirts recently (after getting caught on a glacier durring 80 degree day I decided I needed a light colored shirt) anyway, I wore it for the first time and it ommitted some kinda chemical stench towards the end of the day. (I didn't wash it before I wore it) When I got home and took it off, it smelled up the entire house. My wife thought I spray painted something in the laundry room. It smells fine now but seems weird.

Looking for suggestions on some kinda homade ski carrier I can build for the bed of a pickup or cheap commercially made alternative. I finally broke down and bought new skis this year and am concerned about unnecesary damage as a result of them getting tossed around and smashed up floating around the bed of my truck. I know several of you drive pickups and ski. Do you just toss them in and not worry about it or what?

I noticed the heralded K2 8611 AT ski is on sale at www.sierratradingpost.com for $103. Incase any of you slackers are still shopping for skis.

Yeah, I can't remember hearing of this phenomena in any avalanche course, seminar or text book. Seems like an increase in avalanche occurrance of ONE HUNDRED TIMES is pretty significant and might have recieved at least a footnote.

If I wore a large, I'd buy those BD Drytool gloves off of slothrop. I have a pair and have used them for ice climbing, general mountaineering, skiing and mtn biking for a couple of years. The leather is wearing through on the finger tips now but they've held up to abuse pretty good. I belive I paid about $29.99 on www.sierratradingpost.com (still see them there from time to time). They are $59.00 on the BD website. These would be similar to the Arcteryx gloves you mentioned (softshell & leather construction) I also have a pair of the BD windstopper gloves and they are not nearly as durable or weather proof but are more comfortable and nice for cool weather hiking and running. I never really noticed they take longer to dry but, I guess that would make sense considering the windproof membrane. Probably not a big deal if you're only out for the day. Other glove makes to check out: www.cloudveil.com www.mec.ca www.marmot.com www.patagonia.com Like everyone else said, there's no one perfect glove out there so you should accept the fact that you may eventually end up with half a dozen different gloves. I find that I buy a new pair to replace some old worn out gloves and decide that maybe I can keep the old gloves as "back ups".

I've had mean cows chase me from time to time while crossing farmer's fields to fish in their streams, but other than that, I ain't scared of cows.

I wish the local ironworkers union would have sent some of those scrawny guys out the the job I working and crossing their picket line. Those were some big boys. I think union iron workers must get more rest or don't work as hard because a lot of them are pretty thick bastards (and rude as well!). Of course the loudmouth trying to start most of the fights was the smallest of all but you knew if you touched him you would get dogpiled by the big dudes. That would hurt. I think they all drove little Geo Metros.

Good deal! I just put in my two week notice so I can dedicate my career to taking internet IQ tests! Wait a minute, I just got my confirmation email and it said I only scored 21. I guess the only answer I got right was entering my email address correctly. Oh well, back to the grindstone.
-
I scored 201. Is that good?

HRoark, I'm pretty slow, but I looked at your stupid avatar picture and when crossreferenced with this post duplicating several you've made in the past, I now know your secret identity and will be notifying the DEA, CIA as well as Immigration and OffWhite. You are so busted

Mainly becasue it's so scary looking!!! If I do climb it this year, look for a very long cheastbeater trip report!

Ken: I was referring to the North Face of the North Peak of Mt. Index (NFNP) as I am a lazy person and will abreviate whenever possible. The route is described in a few different guide books and has a reputation for being popular when it's "in". I think it's Grade III - V, 5.7+, WI3+. Plan to bivy. Now that I've typed that out in plain letters and numbers, I think I'll just scope it out from HWY 2 for another season.

But Holmgren has to go. I'm tired of pining Seattle's playoff hopes on a combination of other teams losing. I hear Burger King is looking for new employees.
-
Well, time for your pre-climb chestbeat. It's the first day of winter, what's everybody planning to flail around on? With any luck - Scaling some rocks out at Index when it's sunny and warm. Little Tahoma on my skis. Knock down some ice around Bozeman. The steeper Coulior on the N Face of Colchuck. [/start token nemises climb] Maybe scratch around on the NFNP of Index if we get good conditions. [end token nemises climb/] Poach tele skiier's lines whenever possible

I'd rather pound a pin in each side of the tree and rap off of those.

Why cant these candy asses just buck up and maintain their commitments? I really get pissed when I'm on a climb and someone gets hurt just short of the summit and pusses out. "Put a tourniquet on it you baby!" Seriously, you guys who's lives revolve around climbing and stuff need to get some perspective. Some people have family's, jobs and sometimes, out of the blue, shit happens. Sounds like a control freak group session in here. Not calling to cancel however, is grounds for a minimum of 10' of penalty slack, DOAE, (depending on actual excuse). I hate that

Guys, guys, guys! Under the terms of the Patriot Act, if the Attorney General orders you rescued, he doesen't have to give a reason or give you an attorney after the rescue.
