Howabout "after Fern suggested that we were gonna get screwed by how slowly were were going and endure an unplanned bivi? When it was after noon and we were on pitch 3 or thereabouts of a 15 pitch route and the rock was loose and Dru had forgot his helmet as well as his headlamp?" Instead of "fern sugested we bail" -

Also climbing Rock On by headlamp and getting up at 11Pm to go and fail on Gunsight. And doing the KingSwing on Scarface. . And the Subaru Alpinism road trip and not backing off Louis when Fern wanted to, and consequently running out to the car at midnight with no headlamp so they wouldnt lock us in. Also climbing Rock On by headlamp and getting up at 11Pm to go and fail on Gunsight. And doing the KingSwing on Scarface. But all of that is in the past. One thing I have tried to learn from old Fred is that he doesnt rest on his laurels. He always still wants to be out there trying something. Maybe the secret is to reverse the Jedi wisdom and say Try or dont try there is no "Do." I think maybe the feeling of having accomplished something lessens because there are way more other accomplishments to compare it to nowadays than there were 12 years ago when I started. -

(i.e. the Snake and 1 month versus 2 days of feelings....) and of course you want more...... Maybe that's the problem. You want more and are not satisfied with what you do have. My god man! There are children starving in Ethiopia and all you care about is your feeling for climbing!!!! There are children starving in America too. There are teens huffing gas in Cape Breton, Cape Dorset and Chase BC. There are rich people in Hollywood with unfortunate haircuts and bad tailors too. -

Plus, it is common knowledge that the Seattle PD Management will let protesters get away with just about anything! March on I-5!!! (This is in no way a slam against the officers on the street; it's not their fault they get reigned in by the Man.) Greg What if the al-Qaeda decided to organze an assault on REI and disguised it as an anti Fee Deom rally? You had better all be prepared for Pepper Spray and truncheon-in-the-kidneys.

"Is climbing better than sex"? "That depends on how good the sex is!" [ 06-05-2002, 01:37 PM: Message edited by: Dru ] -

SORRY TO SAY THIS SK, BUT THAT IS THE POTHEADS OUTLOOK!!! HAHAHAHAHA Ya enjoy the experience of sitting on the coucheating chips and drinking beer....watching Scooby Doo reruns... -
Dennis sounds like Andrew Todhunter who wrote the whiney book about wishing he could be Dan Osman or whatever. Dude obsessed with death in the mountains instead of having a good time climbing.

A peregrine once zipped between me and climbing partner walking down Apron descent trail slabs and killed a songbird in midair it was cool! Those things can really zip they are the porsches of raptors.

What happened to scott's "friend" that he was jogging down the trail solo. Did the guy ditch him as a loser or what? Was he running to get help cause friend got stuck in a tree? Huh? huh? EPIC ON MT SI. SHOULD SUMMITPOSER.COMMERS BE CHARGED FOR RESCUES???

No Jim, the peregrines were nesting on upper Freeway/Clean Corner area, so all climbs from freeway thru Negro Lesbian were (are?) closed till July. BUT they notice peregrines arent there this year and have been seen over by NW passage, so they are trying to confirm this, then they will open freeway and close Nw passage (which nobody has ever repeated anyways)/wall of attrition area till chix are fledged or whatever. a peregrine tried to steal my hat once north of Pemberton.
