Vegas is a good place to teach math, specifically accounting and probability. Story Problem: Layton makes $300 a week as a substitute teacher but loses $350 a week in the casinos. If he starts his job on April 1 with $2000 in his pocket and spends $75 a week on alcohol, how long will it be before he's waiting in the soup kitchen line up? TRICK ANSWER: Cheap bastard will be in soup kitchen lineup from day 1
  9. Mattp I am awaiting your fine weekend TR!!! "Saturday - made an alpine start at 8:30 AM. Immediately deleted scurrilous material questioning my competence as moderator. The difficulty of this spray section was given as Spray5 but after sending it with 1 hang I downrated it to Spray4+. Bogus speed records are SERIOUS BUSINESS and Snafflehounds are EVIL but with the Grace of God I prevailed."
  10. I saw a picture in the Vancouver Sun yesterday of people swimming in the lake! Last week of March can be good conditions. Maybe a bit cold at times. Dont expect shorts & t shirt weather but better then than midJuly IMHO.

    amazingly unsafe

people die from falling bullets every year. i dunno about pennies getting flicked off the tops of tall buildings though. i think they put a mesh around the edge of the roof to catch that stuff.
  15. also good for bushwacking and other slow moving wet activities where staying damp from sweat is better than getting soaked from cold rain water and muddy brush. i use em for fieldwork. dont feel like trashing my goretex also pretty good for "super light" summer rainwear that you carry but dont wear much, if you can't afford a $400 spendy Paclite shell that will get holes in it within a day of you wearing it.
  16. this turkey monster thing sounds cool pls. post a pic if youve got it.

  18. = lower food costs for America and the world. ...I know you think we should all be eatin' soy and tofu, and now you're going to spout some anecdote about x-number of acres of grain feeding y number of people versus cattle. Just remember; "public lands" means just that. Not your land, everybody's land. ....I will add that it is wrong to subsidize Canadian mining companies extracting ore from American public lands. same law applies to everyone sunshine. Or are you against free trade when its inconvenient for you, and only for it when its for you? Altho' for all i know maybe youre an isolationist....
  19. I like to go in the mountains but for me hiking is about hanging out in the meadow and not going for the summit and I'd rather summit if I walked all that way up there.

    funny

stumps that have been dead for like 60 yrs are amazingly sticky and can glom onto your tool for hours. i tried a bunch of old springboard-logged stumps in a park near my house once and it was like Brer Rabbit meets da Tarbaby.
  23. or you could have paid about $115 canadian for that grivel 3rd at MEC.. i agree with you tho fairweather those things Rock!!!!
  24. its more about trying to figure out why what is reported happening, happened than trying to figure out if what was reported was BS or not... i dont know if there really are shooting cracks or what up there but if there were things could have settled down quite a bit in a few hours time... they were up there Monday? (Alp A correct me if Im wrong here) and it had only been warm for a day up there***, and its possible that, ice layers or whatever in the snowpack were preventing water from penetrating all the way down and a lower weak layer existed. the only way we'd really know was if they dug a pit which it sounds like they didnt do... personally i think propagating cracks are a good excuse to go home and have a beer, then again i have never seen one cause i only go out when avvy hazard is LOW, other than that its cragging weather. ***edited I just looked at it they were up on Wednesday I dunno what the hell they saw or why it occurred and i will shut up and play tetris.
