freeclimb9 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 That hold on the left? Yea, it's off route. You can't touch it. No, it's not contrived. Â Quote
ryland_moore Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Awesome Erden! Team Rednecks on Ice will be happy to form a procession line for you and your new bride at the Kahiltna Airport! Quote
erden Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 It is kind of you to cheer us on... Â Please keep an eye on Around-n-Over web site. We will be updating that into the future. Â I leave for Denali on Feb 1 to meet the team at Wonder Lake on May 1. I will provide dispatches from the road on our web site. Be on the look out for a story on the same trip in the April issue of the Outside Magazine. Outsideonline.com will also mirror these dispatches in their own format. The Learn & Share bulletin board on rei.com will provide related content and dispatches as well. Â Enjoy, Â Erden. Quote
jules Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Erden, Best of luck to you on your adventure! It seems to me a fitting tribute to Goran, as well as an inspiring undertaking for all of us. I look forward to reading about your progress. - Jules Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I'm bettin' rowing across the pacific and atlantic oceans are more of the cruxes than the climbs afterwards. Bring the vitamin c for scurvy! Quote
chucK Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I'm bettin' rowing across the pacific and atlantic oceans are more of the cruxes than the climbs afterwards. Â Yeah no lie. That's gonna be one committing undertaking (or two actually). Does anybody know how much long-distance rowing experience Erden has? Quote
freeclimb9 Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Riding a bike to Wonder Lake from Seattle in winter and early spring will be no joke, too. And don't forget the bog walk and alder wrestle to any Denali basecamp. Seems that Erden is a proponent of Death Therapy rather than Baby Steps. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 The way I view it is that if he is fit enough to make it all the way to alaska he'll be fine for that. Quote
Dru Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 its called getting in shape on the way to the mountain like the brits do. combine your training with your trip! Quote
Dru Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 (edited) its called double posting Edited January 17, 2003 by Dru Quote
chucK Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I doubt riding your bike to Alaska is as committing as being in some tiny boat 1000 miles from anything. If he gets tired or a bad storm comes up on the road to AK he can probably hunker down or quit before he's dead. Don't know if that's true on a one-man boat out in that big ol' ocean. It seems like experience would help a lot here, that's why I ask. Â Well anyway, enough of this negative talk. Good luck to ya Erden . Â The way I view it is that if he is fit enough to make it all the way to alaska he'll be fine for that. Quote
freeclimb9 Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 But ocean currents aren't aid? And what's with Seattle being the nexus of the trip? Why not row to Costa Rica and stay. Learn to surf, or something. Quote
freeclimb9 Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 enough of this negative talk Any amount of writing someone does won't sway the balance of finishing the trip, or not. Quote

So are you saying he won't make it across the ocean? You're so negative man. Quote
