catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 I just got laid off from my job. Boom. No warning. I am now available for mid-week climbing. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2003 Author Posted January 9, 2003 I play trombone in two bands already, a concert band on Mondays and a jazz band on Thursdays. I'll have more time to practice now. Quote
JoshK Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 catbirdseat, if you don't mind sharing, I'm curious what industry/field you are in? Quote

Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 Weren't you cats just in PDX, Spanker? Band name sounds familiar. What kind o' music y'all play? Quote
klenke Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 I guess you're no longer in the catbird seat. Nope. Now you're just in the trombone seat. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2003 Author Posted January 9, 2003 Trumpet AND Trombone? It is unusual for brass players to double on instruments with large and small mouthpieces. My son is dabbling in it. My teacher used to tell me don't, it will mess up your chops. Quote
JoshK Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 Damn...smart stuff. Crap, now people with real skills (read: not web developers and dot commers) are getting layed off. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 dat you in da blue tee shirt, sportin the red eye? Quote
COL._Von_Spanker Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 it's sorta difficult to double up, but the stuff we play isnt' too complex. I just can play super high on the trumpet after playin bone. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2003 Author Posted January 9, 2003 I'm no longer in a seat period. I'm outdoors hiking or climbing or whatever. Quote
klenke Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 I like the Das Booty image 17.jpg. I'd have that look on my face too if the guy next to me was blowing a trumpet in my ear. Quote

North_by_Northwest Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 I just got the axe too, right after New Years. They must think its easier on us if they wait until after the holidays, less chance of an "incident". It wasn't necessary: the nice weather at Index today made me forget about revenge altogether. I'm also open for weekday activities now. Quote
