Anything dry in Der Town? Was hoping to get on Upper Castle Rock, but would settle for most anything right now. Would like to change it up from Vantage.

As an update: the trail is snowed over, but everything we climbed was dry...that includes Saber, Canary, South Face, and The Nose.

Saw folks on February Buttress on Sunday. Looked dry to me.

I was on February Buttress on Sunday. Conditions were beautiful, the south-facing rock is getting a lot of sun. It looks like this coming weekend is shaping up to be just as nice there too.

 

February Buttress is half-visible from the 76 gas station, it's the dry rock gently sloping from the right.

This is where Aquarius starts. Notice the bolt on the face? Neither did I at the time.

Bouldering up at forestland was good on Sunday. Just had a little snow on the approach, but bare ground and dry rock up at the boulders.

Yep its early Spring-like Conditions out there. South facing slopes fairly dry..cold in the am tho, 26F currently at my house, southeast of town, in the shade.

 

The Ski Hill is now closed for the season due to lack of Snow.

I hope we get a bit more snow, the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club x-c trails have been superb.

most of the icicle crags are pretty dry. ticks run rampant.

 

4/17 edit: snow at the start of Outer Space. Pitch 1 looks wet. snow on the descent. approach is snow-free.

 

Mountaineer Creek Road is still gated.

We went up there last weekend (April 13th)It's gated, but clear to the 1st bridge. After that there's continuous snow the last 1/2 mile to the TH.

Camping beta requested: bridge creek is the only open campground this weekend. And it's completely booked up. Any suggestions on some decent low-profile camping? Sleeping in car is not an option.

Is 8 mile campground not open? I drove by on Wednesday and the gate was open.

Thinking to head up from Portland this weekend. Has anyone been up on Dragontail/Colchuck. What kind of conditions are to be found out there? Hoping to do either Dragontail or Serpentine...

 

Or perhpas Ingalls Peak - is it possible to access the trailhead?

It's still winter up there. Road is still gated pending final snowmelt as well as the USFS needing to saw down dangerous forest-fire snags along the trail to 8-mile lake.

 

You will not suffer crowds on serpentine arete.
