ivan Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 ...was well feted last night in case you missed it: http://opb.org/programs/ofg Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 The Gorge contingent watched it out at Ricks house, and had popcorn and cold ones. What a great 9 minutes by Oregon Field Guide! Its what we needed to give Beacon some fame, and get more climbers and folks out there enjoying it! Quote
rmncwrtr Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Wonderful. Really enjoyed it! Great to see Jim as well as Beacon I had no idea they'd filmed this until I got a message from Jim earlier this week telling me about it. I so wanted to get to PDX last night watch it, but had kids to pick up. Quote
denalidave Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Jim was on a roll. Nice work Jimmy! Quote

dougd Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks for posting the link Ivan. I probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Enjoyed seeing my old friend, still cruising some routes at 67... I was all packed up to do Cooper's Spur this weekend but the weather looks to be total shit so we bagged that idea. For now... d Quote
112 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I just watched it and thought it was very, very cool. Jim is looking strong! Quote
sobo Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Just watched it meself, too. Very nice. Would love to meet Jim someday. Question, the dude jugging at 7:30 and a quick shot again at 7:59... I didn't see a b/u to his jumar...??? Quote
pink Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 far fuckin out jim was always like a second father to me, that made my night.... Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 The guy jugging with the one jumar was a cameraman/rigger who made his own calls. Quote
kevbone Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Very fun to spend it with 40 of our best beacon rock friends drinking beer celebrating Jim. Even Brad was there....... Quote

corvallisclimb Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Just watched it meself, too. Very nice. Would love to meet Jim someday. Question, the dude jugging at 7:30 and a quick shot again at 7:59... I didn't see a b/u to his jumar...??? They did a great job filming the climbing and stuff. I think the guy your talking about had a foot ascender or something like a croll or basic attached to his belay loop. The first shot though it almost looks like the is on belay and just using it as a hand hold. Would be pretty sad if it was the other way around as they touch on last years accident and stuff. Quote
sobo Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks to you both, Tyler and Steve, for those observations. Quote
denalidave Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Dave, aren't you at Frenchmans this weekend? How goes the climbing???? Great! First time at Vantage... Here's our boy Geoff. Lots of "familiar" faces of those I've never met. cc.comr's Quote

denalidave Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 A wee bit of Talking Heads action there...?? I made a brief attempt to salvage the doll house for my girls but almost got thrown in the fire upon suggesting it. LET IT BURN! Quote
geoff Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I thought there may have been a story behind this but had the good sense not to ask. This was shortly before our midnight climbing adventure where I didn't have sense enough to stay in camp. And, Sunshine Wall proved to have some. Good times. Quote
