Cpt.Caveman Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 Make sure you give time standards, eat gu, go super lightweight (tarp only for bivy), don't use the hut systems, no helmet. And don't forget to take your alt. sickness medicine. Quote
sk Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 in case you are not joking, have fun and be safe. travel well sk Quote
RobBob Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 the N Face? Â yr getting a late start...it's almost 6pm! Quote
Greg_W Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 I don't think he is joking, SK. I have it on good authority that he bought several St. Bernard dogs with those little kegs of liquor on their collars. Â The only Matterhorn Trask is climbing is at Disneyland. Â Greg W Quote

allthumbs Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 It's been a long day and we didn't summit yet.   I knew I was approaching the Matterhorn. We stopped at this recreation area.   Here’s me at the start of our epic.  [ 09-12-2002, 10:46 PM: Message edited by: trask ] Quote

RobBob Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Trask, glad to hear you're safe and sound...a friend told me that conditions were bad on the Horn last evening... Â Â The story I heard was that someone (we thought it was you) chose to bivy on the summit, and avoid the risk of nighttime rockfall and also those pushy Europeans queuing for the fixed ropes. Ralf Kleineschwanz, the last man off the summit, had reported that there was a crusty Amerikaner who was mumbling curses about listening to advice from some guy named Caveman Twight...he was setting up a bivy in a Hefty trashbag, and had only a Slimjim and a Cytomax/pee bottle with him... Cpt.Caveman Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Attitude here's your summit shot just wait a few seconds some diahrea might spew forth. Quote
