KaskadskyjKozak Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Even if Obama is re-elected, we'll still have a Republican in the white house. I saw Barry talking last night about the need to compromise and fix the budget. He actually made sense. And no, I wasn't drunk. Quote

olyclimber Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Hate to say it, but I might be voting to give BHO another another term. The GOP candidates have the combined IQ of an inbred golden retriever and the 3rd party candidates all seem to be running around with tin-foil hats screaming "ANARCHY!" for all people tried to paint him as socialist muslim, the dude is centrist to the point of pissing off a lot of libruls. when will the Republicans be able to offer someone who doesn't pander to the looney vote? perhaps when they do they might win. They just won in 2010. WOW! DIDN'T KNOW THEY ELECTED A PRESIDENT LAST YEAR! GREAT JOB! WAY TO GO! Quote

Maybe now, after all those eons, they could find some way to win! Quote
JosephH Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Umm, yeah, they won the presidency twice in a row prior to Barry. Actually they won it once and stole it the other time. Quote
billcoe Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Actually they won it once and stole it the other time. You are talking about Michael Connell: it's enough to start believing in conspiracy isn't it? Hell of a story.http://www.velvetrevolution.us/prosecute_rove/ Quote

Off_White Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 when will the Republicans be able to offer someone who doesn't pander to the looney vote? perhaps when they do they might win. Well that's the thing, isn't it? The primary selects for who excites the fringe the most, but that won't do so well in the general election. If the Republicans picked someone like Huntsman he might well win, but all the pundits say there's no way his liberal social politics will carry the primary. The fiscally conservative/socially liberal wing of the Republican party is really out of power, but that's the flavor most likely to sway the all important independents. Quote

It is amusing the amount of demonizing, ill-well, and wasted energy arguing about two piles of crap which in essence differ from eachother by about 2-4% in terms of actual policy differences. Quote
olyclimber Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 its just funny to see a party think that the reason it lost to the other side of the political spectrum (and sure, in reality , in some regard, the politicians from both parties are becoming indistinguishable in practice) is that they were not "far right" enough or extreme enough. so instead of heading to the center to pick up more votes to win the game, they spend all their effort in trying to move the goalposts to the right. it's not doing the same thing and expecting a different result, it's worse than that. rob Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 It's ironic, all that social conservatism out there right now in the GOP; they believe in life and liberty, but only as it applies to their own personal values. Hell-bent on legislating their own form of rigid christian moralism under the guise of "freedom," their intolerant, overbearing and puritanical ways betray the very principles they pretend to stand for. How could any rational person call themselves a Republican right now? Quote
rob Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Then again, pretending to love freedom and liberty while simultaneously trying to make everybody else live according to your personal values is pretty much par for the course for America. Hell, I think we invented it! Quote

Did you know that under slavery (which was a regrettable institution) more black children lived in 2-parent homes than today when we have an African American president? TRUE STORY!! Quote
