Lucky Larry Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Can you base the intelligence of a so-called LEADER on his ability to deliver a speech? Why do all presidents have some hack writer cobble it together? Because it's all smoke, lies and deceit. If they actually wrote it themselves some truth might just slip out by accident. Insert seal barking and clapping during the pauses in the so-called speech. Thieves, thugs, lies, lobbyist, goons, scams, bankers, schemes. Republic of USA: It is a constitutional[stolen] republic and representative[stolen] democracy. Quote
wayne Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Agreed. I saw a montage of all the last 10 presidents all saying the same exact lies about energy independence etc. Should be called state of the corporate takeover. Gotta love the repub melt-down after though Quote
ivan Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 but larry dude, all i get are the 3 channels that don't show nothing else then! seriously larry, when were your halycon days? when didn't the rich man run everything? when was our republic really so golden? we're the 3rd mall from the sun and we're getting about what we've paid for. how many leaders awarded w/ the accolade of "good" over the years would you reckon a shitty speaker? Lucky Larry Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Fair enough Ivan. I guess I am starting to feel better after being infirmed the last three weeks. rob Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Considering the president actually holds very little real power, I think it's dissappointing that everybody rallies around him like some kind of king, and then becomes disappointed when he can't deliver. Whatever happened to congress? Why does everybody look to the president to drive legislative change in the first place? Fuck that shit. We should not even have created that position in the first place. Stupid humans and their prehistoric "god" complex. Why does there always have to be "one guy" at the top? It's so old-fashioned. "State of the Union" indeed. Who the fuck asked his opinion, anyway? Like he's behind the wheel or something. Oh Captain, My Captain! Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Oh contraire (let's see which douche is first to spell check that), we're herd animals. Worshiping the Big Man, whether in the sky or on TV, is as natural as being eaten by a saber tooth. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Promoting true power to the people and egalitarianism has always met with strong, occasionally violent resistance from the Thumpers, who insist that the Great Big Fuzzy Kitty Way Up In The Sky must remain in charge of it all, lest chaos (drug fueled chaos. Humans usually a bit more boring than all that. Freethinkers who realize this get to enjoy the hobby of beating these primitives back from the hallowed halls of secular public policy. Quote

ivan Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 perhaps you should implore the big O to revert to the jeffersonian model next year and simply deliver the state of the union as a letter? most of the new tea-party types can read, can't they? the reality of the sou of course is that it's evolved from a rather staid and boring and practiically invisible constitutional obligation to a rather loud and annoying political pep rally - unlike in high school, at least if you're not into pep rallies, it's not that hard to escape Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 If we had a DNA sample we could clone Thomas Paine to make the speech, but the Tea Baggerz would probably shoot him. Quote

ivan Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 tea baggers couldn't stomach the reality of thomas paine - dude was a raging atheist - holy shit he's got no end of great quotes here's a fun one, on the bible: "It is a book of lies and contradictions and a history of bad times and bad men. kevbone Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Considering the president actually holds very little real power, I disagree. Take Bush for example. He personally fucked up the US by being a bully. Lots of power. Obama could be more forceful. Quote
