kevbone
Kind of crap about we CANNOT take away from the money on the left. Pay solders less by bringing them home. That is an easy one.

billcoe
LOL! Great video find Kevin. Except I think it's faked, no one can cut a penny that easily. Isn't that illegal anyway?

sobo
Kind of crap about we CANNOT take away from the money on the left. Pay solders less by bringing them home. That is an easy one. You don't score very high in reading/verbal comprehension, do you, 'bone? The narrator clearly stated that the money on the left is mandatory spending, and further characterized that by saying "...before we can fix a single road, or build a bridge, or pay a soldier, we have to spend this money..." The point is that you aren't going to save any money on the left of the white line by bringing soldiers home, because their pay doesn't come from that pile in the first place. Dolt. That's an easy one...
ScottP
Except I think it's faked, no one can cut a penny that easily Post-1983 pennies are made of zinc with a copper coating and are quite easy to snip that way. Isn't that illegal anyway? It is only illegal to alter US currency if there is fraudulent intent.
tvashtarkatena
I don't know. The Feds shut a 'copper mine' down that was melting down pre 83 pennies cuz they're worth nearly 2 cents each. No fraud there.
ScottP
It is my understanding, from reading the statute, that the melting down with the intent to sell the altered coin makes it illegal. From Title 18 United States Code, Section 331: "Whoever fraudulently possesses, passes, utters, publishes, or sells,or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or brings into the United States, any such coin, knowing the same to be altered, defaced, mutilated, impaired, diminished, falsified, scaled, or lightened"
