how should the government handle it's debt problem, other than cutting spending and raising taxes? Does greece have a lot of rich people to tax?

Greece has a tax evasion rate much greater than that of other European countries. Bringing it down to the European average would go a long way toward solving the debt problem. Easier said than done of course.

starting a McFeta restaurant chain abroad might be more lucrative.

The mainstays of the Greek economy are tourism and maritime transport, both of which got hammered along with the global economy. No wonder revenues took a dive.

Yeah, I know what you thought this thread was about. But this is what populism looks like when the "common man" is fighting for himself instead of against himself.

Congratulations, Prole. Your thuggish support has encouraged your fellow lefties to kill.

A bomb has exploded outside a public building in the Patissia area of the Greek capital Athens, killing a man and injuring a girl, police sources say.

The condition of the injured girl was unclear, with one source saying her life was not in danger and another that she was in critical condition.

The device went off late on Sunday evening in front of an institute for training public officials.

Athens has seen a number of recent attacks blamed on leftist militants.

Bomb attacks earlier this month targeted the home of a Pakistani community leader and the office of a far-right anti-immigration group.

Earlier attacks targeted banks and government buildings and were attributed to far-left or anarchist groups.

"By DEREK GATOPOULOS, Associated Press – Mon May 2, 9:48 am ET

ATHENS, Greece – Greece's cash-strapped government promised Monday to raise an additional euro11.8 billion ($17.5 billion) by the end of 2013 via a crackdown on tax evasion, and indicated it could seek a second extension of its bailout loan repayment.

Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou outlined the tax crackdown, which includes the appointment of a former terrorism prosecutor to the effort, a year after Greece was rescued from the brink of bankruptcy by a euro110 billion ($164 billion) bailout package from the European Union and International Monetary Fund..........."

This should be interesting.......

"Greeks vent anger at entire political class"

It will be interesting to see what the "Socialist entitlement Class" hereafter to be refered to as the "jb class", does when the Political Class" really starts in with true cuts so as to not go bankrupt.

...and how long until it comes to our shores and budget, which is still out of control heading into the red hole pit of despair.
