Anna Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 You folks on this forum make me laugh! I know that it might me a little early for this, but I am a seasonal firefighter in the summer months and never get a chance to scramble up mountains in the prime Cascade climbing season not to mention wanting to avoid the influx of people at that time. Looking for experienced females or males to climb any volcano in OR, WA, or Northern CA, anytime.(weather permitting, of course) Burly, fit, semi-experienced mountaineer chic with my own tent and gear. My schedule is very flexible in that I don't have one before May 28th. Will split money for food, gas, beer, etc. Have Subaru, will travel. amevanoff@hotmail.com Quote
scott_harpell Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 how much experience do you have? cause i ahve quite a busy alpine schedule this summer, but i wouldn't mind throwing in a lil' emmons route on ranier if you are interested. what dates are you free for? Quote
Alex Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 with the 400% snowpack we have this year, you're going to have plenty of time to climb, Anna, but are going to be pretty broke, too, I imagine.. Alex(veteran of the Pike/San Isabel NF) Quote
Dru Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 you will get more partners if you broaden your horizons beyond volcanoes.... Quote
Anna Posted March 29, 2002 Author Posted March 29, 2002 Mr. Scott Harpell, Rainier sounds wonderful. I have climbed it before but not by way of the Emmons-Winthrop Rte. I'll e-mail you on Hotmail.com to give you some info on my experience and contact information. Anytime you want to go, let me know, I have no restrictions on time before the 28th of May. So you go to school in B.C.? I have many questions on that subject as I am thinking of going up there myself for flight school. As for Mr. Alex, 400%, eh? In the Cascades or in the whole U.S.? Fortunately, and unfortunately it sometimes seems, I am on call 24/7 (can't be up on some mountain with a 2 hour response time)in the summer for dispatchs all over the nation including Alaska and Canada, mainly for fire but for emergency efforts as well, I'm sure I will be very busy-wouldn't mind sneaking a trip to Smith Rock in June before it really starts cooking though! Country_Jake Posted March 29, 2002 Posted March 29, 2002 Hey Anna, I usally climb a number of the volcanos during the summer... Actually a group of us do two women and three of us guys, do plenty of climbing backpacking and just F@#% off hikes through the Oregon cascades... usally start in late april-october though, your mostly fighting fires... We are all from Eugene though... Quote
Anna Posted March 30, 2002 Author Posted March 30, 2002 Hey Country Jake- Good to know that there are Eugene folks out there that climb! I will send you a private posting. Quote
Bug Posted March 30, 2002 Posted March 30, 2002 Anna darling! Take me back to Montana with you. Get me out of here before I go insane. Don't make me post on this board again. OK. I'm better now. I fought fires in MT for a few years. Welcome to the rain. The climbing here is varied to say the least. As fellow MT's, let me give you some good advice, Get into the Enchantments out of Leavenworth. Just do it. Give us a trip report when you return. Quote
Anna Posted March 30, 2002 Author Posted March 30, 2002 Oh Montana how I love you! The rain isn't that bad...yet. Liked the lush forests and I guess I just wanted a new playground. Where about in MT are you from?? Quote
Bug Posted March 31, 2002 Posted March 31, 2002 I was a bug without roots. Any pile of garbage would do between climbing trips. I climbed in the Beartooths and Absarokas, the Gallatin, the Bitterroots and others. It was nice out there because there wasn't a crowd of people shring your wilderness experience with you. Especially if you got away from the horse trails. Of course, then there wasn't much to eat but I won't take you there. You are too new. Welcome. Watch your back. Quote
