Fairweather Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 What's the best Mars movie ever made? They've all been pretty bad, but I'm in the mood to watch a video that is set in a place with a climate even more inhospitable and depressing than Washington State in the winter time. Quote
ashw_justin Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Total Recall But I haven't watched that many Mars movies Quote
Off_White Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Heh, saw this one in the elementary school auditorium Quote
olyclimber Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 as you probably guessed, there is a website specializing on movies set on mars http://marsmovieguide.com/ Quote
Fairweather Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Robinson Caruso on Mars Good call. I haven't seen that one since I was a kid. I just checked Amazon and ordered it. As it turns out I went and saw Gran Torino with the wife. Holeeee shit, it's a good movie and not at all what I was expecting to see. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Heh, saw this one in the elementary school auditorium ....starring none other than the great Pia Zadora. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I saw Robinson Caruso on Mars in '65, then Netflixed last year. It was the second theatre movie I ever saw (after 20,000 Leagues). Still just as good as the first time. Quote
Fairweather Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Amazon couldn't cough up Robinson Crusoe--it's on back order. I found a copy at Borders, but they wanted $39.99 so my quest is underway without the crown jewel. Between work, night classes, endless Spanish exercises, biking up Green Mountain/Mount Pete, a little skiing, racquetball, endless stairs at the gym, and, of course, spraying, I have managed to watch/re watch four Mars movies: Total Recall - Good flick, but not enough landscape. Red Planet - Not well reviewed, but I really liked it. Plausible. Mission to Mars - Pretty lame. Some good scenery, but the story line is beyond stupid. Ghosts of Mars - Pure torture. C-grade acting without any titty to redeem it. Watching this movie was worse than dragging my cement-filled tire by a chain screwed into my Atlas up the cable-line on Tiger. The quest continues...
