"I'm going to continue to gather information to find out whether those conditions still hold," he said. "My guiding approach continues to be that we've got to make sure our troops are safe and Iraq is stable."

Parhaps Obama is beginning to show that he's only Democrat enough to get backing from the party, and he understands that cutting and running out of Iraq would be pretty fucked up.

I figure if Ralf Nader or somebody like him becomes president then we'll be out of Iraq pronto.

Obviously McCain ain't withdrawing any time soon. To him this is basically the 100 year war. Barak is realistic enough to know that withdrawal after we solved one problem but created another isn't going to happen.

Basically all politicians say lots of stuff, but then instantly change their mind in office. All politicians do that. That's life.

One thing I know for sure is Bush is out the door next January and that's a really good thing.:tup:

In a town hall meeting with veterans in Fargo, N.D., on Thursday, the Democratic presidential candidate said he would use what he learns from military commanders on his upcoming trip to Iraq.

"I am going to do a thorough assessment when I'm there," he said. "I'm sure I'll have more information and continue to refine my policy."

What's wrong with that? I'd certainly hope he refines his policy after receiving data that will surely only be available to him as president.

But apparently republicans will look for any excuse to belittle him. If he says a, they're mad he didn't say b. If he says b, they say, "hey, what about a?"

Apparently, Obama needs to speak more clearly and slowly so that republicans can understand him.

"Apparently I was not clear enough this morning.

I have said throughout this campaign that this war was ill-conceived, that it was a strategic blunder and that it needs to come to an end. I have also said I would be deliberate and careful about how we get out. That position has not changed. I am not searching for maneuvering room with respect to that position."

Once they noticed he wasn't wearin' an American Flag lapel pin, their minds go kinda haywire, thus missing anything of substance in the speech.

Democrats bad. Republicans good.

They will beleive everthing GW says and nothing any Democrat says.

The sad truth is, all politicians lie almost constantly.
