KaskadskyjKozak Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 holy crap... we're still in winter and the season has started already. First practices were this past weekend. Anyone else got kids starting baseball? Quote
RuMR Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 nope...thought about it...played ball as a kid...decided that my kids have more things to do than time to do it... Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 my kids have more things to do than time to do it... aint' that the truth! Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 I love how only the coach's kid gets to pitch. that's not true. Quote
rmncwrtr Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 My son is signed up. This will be his third year playing. Haven't heard anything about practice though. Thank goodness since all the kid wants to do right now is ski! Quote
sobo Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I love how only the coach's kid gets to pitch. I remember my days in Little League. I started in center field, and ended up playing catcher after my first year for the remainder of my time in it. Coach said he wanted someone who always knew what was going on and where the next play was to be. His kid never pitched. He even made sure his kid was on another team. His name was Mr. Baskins. I never will forget him. He's probably dead by now. He reminds me of Danny Glover. Quote
rmncwrtr Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I posted too soon. Practice starts Monday! Luckily he got his last year's team's asst. as his coach. The guy's a firefighter, very nice and low key. Quote
Dechristo Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I love how only the coach's kid gets to pitch. I remember my days in Littel League. I started in center field, and ended up playing catcher after my first year for the remainder of my time in it. I never will forget him. He's probably dead by now. He reminds me of Danny Glover. I count a like watershed moment in Little League from a similarly encouraging and respected (by me) adult, except I pitched. This authoritive figure, descendant of a line from the Middle East, resembled a big Omar Sharif...w/o the mustache. And, no, I wasn't his son. PITCHERS DO IT ON THE MOUND Quote

rmncwrtr Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 So during the 3rd inning of tonight's game my son, who had played 3rd and SS up until now, was told he was going to be a right fielder. He looked up at his coach. "Where's right field?" "Right where it's always been," his coach answered. Quote
