Hey Clownpunch- you forgot to ask whether I cared if Obama becomes president; I don't, actually, because he won't be much better than anyone else, he's another empty suit. I said when he becomes president, meaning, I just suspect he's going to win it because a) McCain is hated by half of his own party for being a "traitor",

Not really what I hear - could be the folks at CNN/NYT trying to stick to their journalistic ideals by throwing a horserace. We'll see.

and b) the country is looking for "change" again and this time it's the Democrats that have the momentum since change implies people are fed up with 8 years of bullshit from Republicans. Whether Obama delivers any "change" is a big wild card, but given the state of American politics and the disintegration of this culture...that'll be the day.

Oh he'll deliver change, all right. Congress will have to paint the walls green to go along with the new seats for Hezbollah that Obama will install. Louis Farrakhan might even be Obama's Minister for Religion and Peace. Who knows?

Meanwhile, it's laughable that you so readily dismiss Obama's chances against McCain- typical arrogance to underestimate your opponent.

I really don't underestimate Obama. He is wildly persuasive. Other people throughout history have shared this trait while not necessarily being all that great in the long run; examples would include Joseph Smith, Jr., Shoko Asahara, Jim Jones, etc.

If Obama's campaign manages to finally mobilize the black and youth vote across the country, you will find out just how far from the "majority" reactionary assholes like you really are in this country.

Whatever.

Dean wanted to do it, you guys thought Dean had done it, he didn't do it.

The Left is self-destructing, as it should. The inherent contradictions in its structure leave disintegration as the expected outcome. The Left will never be able to build a comprehensive consensus because that structure is considered evil by the Left when it arises elsewhere. Anything that rises above the mediocre is subject to the Left's pitiful whining.

Oh and love how all of a sudden you have something semi-complimentary to say about Hillary- "she has experience". Now that's funny. The best part of this campaign has been watching her demonstrate to the entire country what an angry, power hungry, devil bitch she really is. Hillary as pres? Fuck that!

Too true! However, she is a lot better than Obama. She has experience *compared to* Obama. Which is why it's really too bad that Obama is rolling over her.

Anyway, when Obama is elected, is there a country run by a military dictatorship you plan to move to escape socialism and takeover by terrorists and their sympathizers? Whatever will you do? :mistat:

Funny stuff! Not really a question, since your hypothesis makes no sense. Obama? Elected? Right...

...Weird that when an American black finds success in a job which serves society he or she is immediately vilified by folks like you.

...

Um, Bob? Ever heard of Thurgood Marshall? I think that anybody comparing the Justice Thomas to Thurgood Marshall wouldn't really be able to find much nice to say about Justice Thomas...

Thurgood Marshall was an incredible man. I haven't read a biography about him directly, but many of the biographies I've read (about folks who shaped our "modern" legal world) mention him and his accomplishments. The impact he's had on people is impressive.

As for CT, what's up with this?

"Leaning back in his leather chair, often looking up at the ceiling, Thomas takes it all in, but he never joins in"

How the hell do they know he is "taking it all in"?

Hey "Bob", since you're new around here and don't seem to have an avatar yet, I'd like to make a suggestion:

His responses to the questions in that article actually seemed to make some sense. Maybe the others do talk too much about things that aren't necessary to decide the case, just to be sure everyone else hears how smart they are? Maybe not? But maybe they'd get more cases decided if they didn't talk so much? Congrats, prole, on swallowing another article whole with nary a hint of skepticism or acknowledgement of doubt. Somehow I can't help but think if it was Breyer, then you'd believe his reasons.

I agree - watching the Supreme Court on CSpan has completely changed everything.

I think a previous poster put it fairly well when describing the Supreme Court as a forum in which the nation's "most vexing legal issues" are given a hearing. In such an institution I would expect those vested with such great responsibility to show a high level of engagement, an inquisitive mind, and willingness to engage in vigorous debate. This man is a walking rubber stamp, a national disgrace. As far as the article is concerned, it handles him with kid gloves. There is no mention of how often he rules with Scalia, 100% I think. Seriously, I would rather have a "conservative" ruling based on reasoned deliberation than wondering what this guy is doing under his robes while arguments are being made.

Huh. I thought at times like those, and for big world problems, is when you just need a "decider". One who already knows the answers before hearing the problem. Not some twit asking questions and wasting time on discussion and inquiry.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you, but who knows which way the wind will blow. At this point McCain would seem to best served by shutting up and not saying anything (like his "I win or die by the War" comment). that isn't the best quality in someone running for president. He also has to be careful to continue to be the "maverick" while sucking up to the conservative base...which have reluctantly rallied around him. that base might just find it hard to get out the vote for him in november since he isn't their ideal candidate.

further more the war and the economy WILL be on the front page till November and beyond.

Mrs. Selkirk's died in the wool Southern Idaho republican parents would vote for Obama before they would vote for McCain.

Your poor mother, Prole! No wonder you're so confused. Did she fall from the top of her cell wing? Forget to put out the cigar when siphoning gas? Hit her face with a mallet after hearing you speak for the first time? Russian roulette with a howitzer? Group sex with hyenas? Eeek, man.

Back to normal people....

:lmao:

Those all sound like plausible explanations for Prole's profound mental retardation.
