True, true....whatever term we use for the gaping hole that can form in winter, I've seen an appreciable crack at the base of this route in winter (February) in the past and my observation here is that from what I can see from conditions this year, there doesn't seem to be much of one this year....All the dumping must really have filled things in.

Sorry if I was obtuse. I was being terminology geek. Yes, there is a formidable crack at the base of this route in winter some years. I did not encounter it this trip.

Why does it seem like this should be buried with snow? They got 122 inches in the last 8 days!

Yeah, I have to wonder that too...

Anyone got any recent photos of the NE slab on the tooth?

Cold dry snow + wind transport = bare rock. Here is couple of pictures of a skier triggered slab avalanche just below the route I took on 1/23/08. I figure some of the snow from up there ended up below.

Trip: Chair - NF

Date: 1/25/2008

Trip Report:

Little late but WTH

Bit thinner than last time I was there (2/2006)

Makes it an ice climb... rather than just a steep snow climb :chebit:
