tanstaafl Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Anybody ever buy one in Seattle? Where? I've just called about fifteen medical supply places, pharmacies, and outdoor stores, with no luck. Only a couple of people even knew what I was talking about. Quote
skeletor Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Try REI. They keep them right behind the Toblerone... Quote
tanstaafl Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Called REI, the guy had never heard of them, went and looked, said they don't have them. Quote

tanstaafl Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Yeah, I found them online all over the place, I just wanted to get one NOW. Instant gratification and all that, you know. Quote
Ducknut Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I bet you could find them in store, usually they are located next to the left-handed smokeshifters and little sumari pocket surgery kits. Just ask any of the helpful folks in the green vests, some of them even speak English as their native language and all of them will ask you if you'd like to become a member of their cult, err I mead co-op. Not that they are a cooperative anymore but it does help with the IRS tax code. Quote
Greta Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Called REI, the guy had never heard of them, went and looked, said they don't have them. Â As if I could be any more disappointed in the dearth of general outdoor knowledge of those employed by what is now a sad shell of the co-op it used to be. Â Does REI have a hard time keeping employees, and is thus compelled to hire idiots, or do they truly nolonger care about product knowledge amongst their staff? I go to REI, on occasion, to make purchases of gear that I am familiar with. I enjoy asking about said gear, and listening to the wide variety of made up bullshit when the green vest knows not what s/he is talking about. They know they should know, and are all too often too cocky to say "I dont know." Sad. Â Â I sometimes think that :pagetop:'s would make better employees Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 you should have called it by its proper name, the Samuel Splint. then he would have know what you were talking about. Quote
snoboy Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Get the product number online then ask for that on the phone maybe??? Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Or perhaps give triangulation directions to it in relation to the toblerone bar display, "Life is good" frisbees, and dog accessories aisle. Always start with shared known locations. Quote
selkirk Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I've got one sitting in the basement that you can have. It's been rolled up and bent a few times, but it's never been really used, and is still serviceable. Â Quote

At REI, they love to get outside and play, and they know first-hand the importance of quality outdoor gear. It says so right there on their website!    Quote

Sherri Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Do they stock the eye candy in-store, or do you have to order that online, as well? Quote
