Roy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 (edited) No hard feelings intended. I have climbed many years, seen death and injury. Have the utmost respect for people that go out to look for lost people. It is just not in my nature to do this. I see people relying on cell phones, beacons and helicopters to bail them out. And the seachers, what more can be said about the risks they take. Buying stuff from REI and going with no experience is plain unresponsible. People should use resourses to learn skills and take care of themselfs. Bad things will happen, they always have. The whole idea of mountaning is streching ones self. I hope the next generation does not turn this into a technical sport. Weather, skills and conditioning will bring you back to your family, whitch is more impotant than any hill. The hardest climb on a good day is as good as it gets, the eaisist climb on a bad day can kill you. Mountanering is a great sport with many rewards, but purity is the way it should be done. Just my 2 cents. And I am sure now one cares. Edited February 20, 2007 by Roy Quote
Dechristo Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 ...now one cares. I'm sure your humanity allows for the great personal sacrifice you've suffered in creating your post if through it "now one cares". Quote
spotly Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I try to be responsible but it's hard to keep up with all these rules - if not REI, then where? Quote
Roy Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 It would be interesting to see if accidents have increased as cell phones and such have come in to our lives. More likely just more people on the hill. Any way have to work, the best thing about working for your self is starting early and finishing late. Does not give one the time to write 5,700 posts for sure. Be safe and have fun. Quote
G-spotter Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 The whole idea of mountaning is streching ones self. WOw! 0_o Tell me more about this "mountaning". It sounds more extreme than regular climbing. Why do you have to stretch so much - is it some type of yoga or just so that you can give yourself a hummer? Quote
underworld Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Why do you have to stretch so much so you don't pull something as you're bending over Quote

olyclimber Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Torrid spelling skills displayed, coupled with horrid grammar, and a lack of complete thought. A theme of self reliance. Spelling, simply torrid. Quote
Dechristo Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Bad grammer good climber How'd you climb way up on top, Grammer? Quote
kevbone Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 (edited) Bad grammer good climber How'd you climb way up on top, Grammer? Dechristo you elitist bitch, you and your spelling. Jesus christ, give it a rest. Edited February 21, 2007 by kevbone Quote
Roy Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 I bet you are an office slug, those people who constantly complain about temps and drafts in the high rise offices. If you are, I want to thank you, those are my best jobs, and it has really helped with private school and college funds. Thanks again! Quote
G-spotter Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Do you look down from the lofty heights, on office slugs while you are doing your mountaining? I have a feeling that not only you are getting stretched but that the truth is too. Quote
RuMR Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 sounds like maybe he has done a new year's solo of thermogenesis to slay his demons?? Quote
Roy Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 (edited) Here is some truth for you. 50% of all buildings do nothing to the HVAC till it fails. Most economizers [fresh air vents] are closed all the time, if not maintained. The carpet, paint and any fabric never stop drying till they are gone. This toxic air will stretch your lungs for sure. G-spotter Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 So if people take care of them selfs in the office, they will have Better flexibility to stretch them selfs mountaining? Oh Kay. Quote

Dechristo Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 G-spot, you elitist bitch! How dare you presume to prompt an American to learn to write in his native tongue when to you, as a Canadian, it's a second language. Quote

Roy Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 (edited) Second after French It's like wiping your ass with silk![/quote You are a real classy gal. I would also like to say I should not have called office workers slugs. Years ago when I was an appentice this phrase in my trade was common. My wife used to work in a high rise in Portland till our bussiness took off. Met and climbed with a lot of good people. As far as my spelling it sucks, my wife and acountent take care of the paper work. The Beverly Hillbillys was a favorite show of mine when I was young. Enjoyed the picture. I will stop responding ,the other poster is right this fourm is for climbing. all of you take care Edited February 22, 2007 by Roy Quote
kevbone Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I will stop responding ,the other poster is right this fourm is for climbing. Unfortunately I have found that this site is a little on the biased side of things, this statement is validated by the last page and a half of spray in a climbing forum. The sprayers are Dechisto and G-spotter. If I was the one spraying, my posts would have been pulled long ago. Its unfortunate…..but is what it is. Maybe when I get over 5000 posts, I will be welcomed into the “no matter what I say I don’t get in trouble” group. For now I just keep spray in spray. Quote
