rob Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I've been riding inbounds for quite a while and I'm pretty OK. But since my board was stolen I'm in the market for a new one and I'd like to get into BC riding. So...got any recommendations on a board/bindings that will do well off piste? I imagine I'll want something lighter, etc... I've got snowshoes, and I'm taking an avy class this month, so I figure I got that angle covered. Any tips? Quote

rob Posted January 9, 2007 Author Posted January 9, 2007 (edited) Your recommendation is that instead I spent the next few years learning to ski? Real helpful, thx. Edited January 9, 2007 by robmcdan Quote
AlpineK Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Skis are big fun, and they go both up and down. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 That snow skate board crap is retarted, espescially in the b/c. Quote

chris Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Prior splitboards seem to be the best - and with a splitboard you can keep up with us double-plankers a lot better than with snowshoes. Snowshoes definitely will slow you down, and make you fewer friends. Quote
OrganDonor Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Splitboard is the way to go. Either buy a factory built board, or make one yourself using the kit voile provides. If your a snowboarder there's no point in learning to ski when you can just get a splitboard. Only advantage to skis is the approach, and the splitboard solves this problem. As far as the DIY kit, I myself stand by it fully. I rode a DIY board for over 6 months before I got a factory split, and I still let my friends use the DIY I made. If you can cut a straight line with a circular saw, you can make a splitboard. Quote

Frikadeller Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Geez, with more and more splitboards getting more and more popular, It's still a wonder why lamo-retardo skiers still think that you cannot BC with a snowboard... I mean, Geez, don't be a lamo-retardo!! Quote
