A few years ago, a guy I knew was working over at rockclimbing.com. He told me that the owner was quite a hardhead about the development techniques used. it was completely homemade without regard to the standard (and quickly evolving) practices in web design. He later quit in disgust.

I have to say that I've never been impressed with the site, although I have *wanted* to be. I like the photo shuffling/rating system, and when I was starting out, I like tracking my tics on their profile. It was the first route db I saw that folks were actively adding into - myself included.

Sadly, the site is too slow and too buggy for it to be a daily visit anymore.

I think that the last oweners burned lots of helpful souls for no reason. Somebody bought the site from them, and this is a start of an attempt to fix the bugs.

I wish them well.

Well bill, if they're under new mgmt, then good for them. I just poked around the new site again and I have to say...it's not bad. It's pretty professional looking. There are a few bugs in the msg system, but overall it works pretty well.

I'm happy just to have multiple places to check for info/routes/trips/partners.
