olyclimber Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 OK...as suggested and seconded by many people including icegirl here and others here, we now have a way to donate money to Kurt's (AKA "AlpineK") recovery fund. Bank: Washington Mutual (any branch) Name: Kurt E. Fickeisen Trust Fund Account # 313-283-7573 As most of you should know by now, Kurt was hurt on the job, and has suffered a pretty bad head injury, not to mention a broken up midsection. Lets all pitch in and help Kurt who has helped run CC.com since the early days. Quote
crackers Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 As discussed with Oly, I'm willing to donate a pack for an auction with all proceeds going to Kurt. Can one of the other mod's make it so? Quote
Peter_Puget Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Crackers - I am not sure what you are asking a mod to do. PP Quote
olyclimber Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 He is just looking for someone to help coordinate an auction...perhaps just a thread where people post their bids would be the best. Quote
billcoe Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 So say I threw $50 bucks Kurts way via Jons paypal account and say "Kurts recovery", this money will get to Kurt? For sure? Just checking, get well Kurt, maybe we'll tie in someday. Quote

billcoe Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Thanks Jon Interesting point, Dan Osmans friends set up a bank fund to help his kid out at the time of his death. The kid shows up years later on Rockclimbing.com and says that the Lowlife Aunt downloaded the account and none of it was seen or went to her or her mom. Quote
MarkMcJizzy Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 There is, or soon will be, a trust account set up at Washington Mutual. Please wait for details. This money will have legal safegaurds that even Bill would be proud of. Quote

Non verified, specious, and not in the best intrest of this thread. Quote
DonnyBaker Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Usually I only give mony to sick kids and cheerleader carwashes, but IM gonna make exception Quote
lick Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Spray shows up everywhere, doesn't it? Must be an inside joke for the moderators. Quote
icegirl Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Okay, so are you all afraid to use paypal? or just waiting for the official account to open... Or perhaps just waiting to see if he gets well really fast and doesn't need any help from us (that would be outstanding!) 1052 topic views. Come on boys and girls, we can do better! If each of you donated just $5... if you'd prefer to do it in person, maybe we can have a slideshow or shultzys thing, and pass the hat around... If you want to send a get well soon card, (with a bill or check inside), I'm sure oly or someone can give us an addy to send it to.. If we help Kurt out now, when he's all better down the road, maybe he'll toss in a complementary hedge trimming or something next time he's surgically removing a tree from your powerlines... What goes around comes around... How about another picnic and TG can donate beer, and we each donate $10 to live it up! That's less than a pitcher at a pub... Quote
snoboy Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Usually I only give mony to sick kids and cheerleader carwashes, but IM gonna make exception Well, I don't think K is a cheerleader but he might fall into your first category, even before the accident. Quote
marylou Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I THINK HE WOULD LOOK HAWT IN A CHEERLEADER UNIFORM. C'mon, anyone have a nice big one they can bring to the hospital? Hell, he has a head injury, he'd never even remember!! Quote
snoboy Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Oh dear... look what I've started... I'm gonna get my ass kicked when he gets out of that hospital... Quote

olyclimber Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 Who can help organize and put together an informal get together (aka, a kegger) were we can all drink beer and raise some money for Kurt's recovery? Terminal Gravity has graciously offered to donate some beer. Who else can step up to help organize what should be a pretty good time? I can definitely help, but my time is pretty thin these days (like the rest of the cc.com admin crew). Quote
archenemy Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I am happy to offer my place in Index as a gathering spot if folks don't think it is too far away. There is plenty of space to camp, and hey, I even have running water and electricity. Quote
archenemy Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I have a rain collection system, a generator, and an RV water pump. I may not be totally off the grid, but people still say my cheese done slid off my cracker. Quote
olyclimber Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 OK...a weekend Kegger at Index sounds good to me. Now we just need to set up a date. Archenemy, your property has plenty of parking and an area for camping if people need to do that or no? Quote
