ragingturk Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Yet another annual west coast pilgrimige is upon me and my partner. You all know a good climbing trip isn't complete without your favorite food stop on the way home. I still don't have one coming out of the North Cascades (west side). Can I get some recommendations for a good place to eat after Marblemount? Perhaps in Burlington? Requirements: 1. Good fresh brew (preferebly brewed on site) 2. Good fresh brew 3. Good fresh burger/meat Spin this as you read your morning email at work, and fill in those TPS reports. Quote
roboboy Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 old thread sedro wooley eating Also the "Good Food" burgers, shakes & fries at Marblemount can taste pretty good after a climb. marblemount fast food Quote
chelle Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Good Food has way better burgers and ambiance than the place with the buffalo sign out front in Marblemount. But unless something's changed in the last year, they don't sell Quote
AlpineK Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 The pizza place in Concrete's good and they serve beer. Whatever you do do not, I repeat do not, go to that new diner just past the old Log Cabin restaurant. You've been warned. Quote
Choada_Boy Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Good food is where it's at. Just be warned that the staff and the environs can be a bit freaky for the uninitiated. Think "Deliverance", or perhaps Lovecraft's "Lurking Fear", but with burgers and fries. I reccommend eating outside, even if it's raining. Quote
RogerJ Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I've never figured if Good Food is really good or if it just tastes so damned good after 5 days in the N. Cascades living off gu and Chicken and Rice. Good Food shakes rule too! Last time we were there, they were out of curly fries and the dysfunctional argument that ensued about forgetting to order more was just a little slice of americana that I might want to forget. -r Quote
genepires Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 What is the brew pub in downtown mt vernon? skagit river brew pub? They got great pizzas, burgers and such and of course, beer. Well worth the wait of 30 minutes or so over the "good food". Quote
marylou Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I find Good Food no longer has good food. Matter of fact, mediocre and overpriced are 2 words that come to my mind. North Cascades Inn in Conrete (south side of 20, just east of Red Apple), well, now you're talking.... Quote
snoboy Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 The pizza place in Concrete's good and they serve beer. I second that vote. Quote
snugtop Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 The veggie burders at Good Food are over $7 and are more expensive than the hamburgers. Quote
roboboy Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I would agree that Good Food is only worth considering if you want to eat right away at Marblemount. Otherwise go on to one of the other restaurants. Quote
G-spotter Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 The veggie burders at Good Food are over $7 and are more expensive than the hamburgers. free range tofu? Quote
jordop Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) You get some wicked Jesus radio tunes at Goonie Burger aka Good Food. Edited June 4, 2021 by jordop Quote
philfort Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I find the Good Food veggie burgers pretty... well... good. Pricey yes. Where is the pizza place in Concrete? Used to be a place called the Baker Street Grill in Concrete... that place was awesome. But they closed a few years ago and moved to Oregon. Quote
AlpineK Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 The pizza place is on HWY 20 just west of where you turn into the old downtown in a strip mall on the S side of the road. Quote
outdoorluvr Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 The Marblemount Diner has awesome food and fun people. It used to be Howie's (around the corner from the old Log House, which is now an Inn) and has been taken over by new owners about a year or so ago. They have a nice selection of microbrews, great burgers and they have dinner specials every weekend. Last time there we had seared ahi tuna and it was killer! Annie's Pizza in Concrete is good to.
