Distel32 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 also check out our beloved poster "Buckwheat"s site.... www.kristaylorphoto.com Quote
Distel32 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 also try to get some more photos for wildlife....mountain goats are cool I guess, but if you get some more exotic stuff IE animals people can't see all the time, they would probably more inclined to buy. Eventually I want to show my photos somewhere, but first I need o take some good ones Quote
marylou Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 oh yes the renound art wolfe Not the point though. It's about name recognition/resume, etc. WRT pricing. Quote
billcoe Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) Dude, accept the critisims and repair issues as valid and examine if they need to be addressed (ie, blurry web page title -YES, pricing too high - most likely probably not) Go for it, live your dreams. You just stepped off the bus heading a new direction, keep plugging away and don't be discouraged. Live your dreams cause no one gets out of here alive and that life clock starts speeding up and ticking real fast all too soon - then it stops all together. Good luck -live your dreams: Bill PS, added to say: I made a road map of sorts when my kids were born. Best advise I could give anybody about anything is this: ORGANIZE AND EXECUTE AROUND WRITTEN PRIORITIES IE: write down where you really want to head and how you're going to do it based on whats important to YOU. MysticNacho Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 Thanks for all the criticism everybody. I'm not dicouraged, hell thats why I posted this on here. CC.com never disappoints. As with all things, they get better over time. Quote
griz Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 the images load painfully slow yeah, MN , i just looked at the file size of your small images(thumbnails) on your first page! some are 200k +!!! trim the size down to like10-20k for each pic. they will look the same and not torture people with dial up. it loads a little slow even with comcast. Gary_Yngve Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 also try to get some more photos for wildlife....mountain goats are cool I guess, but if you get some more exotic stuff IE animals people can't see all the time, they would probably more inclined to buy. I think goats, marmots, etc., would be fine. But they have to be spectacular images, not the sort of image where my buddy could have taken the equivalent the previous weekend. The animal needs a candid pose, a spectacular backdrop, etc. Maybe some people will disagree with me, but my opinion is I'd rather see fewer photos, but all of them top-notch, than a bunch of photos ranging from mediocre to exceptional. I think you're dead-on. Reviewing the other photography sites, I was struck by how few photos most of them displayed. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Maybe some people will disagree with me On the interweb? Nahhh... Quote
MisterMo Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 oh yes the renound art wolfe who photoshopped animals into pictures because he couldn't get the right set up....what an idol..... he spent 3months in MGL and never found a snow leopard, bwap! Though I was not aware of this I had not meant to offer him forth as an idol but rather as an individual who posessed the talents for commercial success. I don't know what motivates people to purchase photographs. The availability for sale of prints by Bradford Washburn or Tom Frost would put me in the market pretty quick though. Quote
RoastyJones Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I have a picture of a goat eating my shirt near Mt. Constance I would sell Quote
Dru Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Well I have a picture of a goat drinking my pee, but anyone who has ever climbed in the Cascades has a picture of a pee-drinking goat. Quote
Distel32 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 that is true dru, but only you have the goat drinking straight from the faucet.....that's gotta be worth something Quote
cj001f Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Maybe some people will disagree with me, but my opinion is I'd rather see fewer photos, but all of them top-notch, than a bunch of photos ranging from mediocre to exceptional. I think you're dead-on. Reviewing the other photography sites, I was struck by how few photos most of them displayed. That's more because the other photographers are using their website as online promotional tools than stores. If you are selling things put it all out there. I'd say you've along way to go before you can quite the day job... there's a shitload of photosites out there for critique advice, hit'em up. Your photos aren't good. Quote
