Chad_A Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 The NOMIC! Hadn't heard about this before. Not that I'm in the market for something like this right now, but damn, looks sweet. On this page, there's a performer doing a juggling act with them. A bit strange, but cool. http://www.petzl.com/petzl/SportNews?Mot...ws=121#imaginer Quote
sweatinoutliquor Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Did you watch the video with Malo Leroy juggling with them? Pretty interesting, though I'm not sure how much all of that relates to climbing! Quote
kioti Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 The tool feels awesome, Though I haven't had the chance to sink the picks, yet. Quote
Dru Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 its going to take the Ergos place. These are more of a leashless "ice" tool whereas the ergo is a leashless "dry" tool. Quote
DanielHarro Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 those things look awsome, they are lighter than the ergos too!! Any stores have them in pdx yet? Quote
AFIVE Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 The first availablity of them is November 1st! Shops that wrote orders for them at the Summer Outdoor Retailer show last August will get them in November. Shops that didn't write orders at the show have to wait until 2006 to get them. U.S. Outdoor has one pair comming in in November. Quote
Jedi Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I was lined up for a pair but the lack of a hammer has been leaning towards a used pair of Ergo's and a pair of Vipers or Quarks. Anyone have any for sale?? The Nomics are sexy without a doubt. Jedi Quote
kurthicks Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Ergo + Nomics = ergonomics those Petzl people were thinkin. Quote
Dru Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Gnomic \Gnom"ic\, Gnomical \Gnom"ic*al\, a. [Gr. ?, fr. ?: cf. F. gnomique. See Gnome maxim.] Sententious; uttering or containing maxims, or striking detached thoughts; aphoristic. [1913 Webster] Quote
Toast Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) Striking detached thoughts? Edited November 2, 2005 by Toast Quote
Dru Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 You can tell Nomics are primarily intended for ice cause it sounds like "no-mixed" Quote
AFIVE Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Petzl USA says it's available November 20th. Quote
featheredfriends Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 To set the record straight, the Nomic is NOT a replacement for the Ergo. Petzl Charlet will continue to make both tools for the foreseeable future. Feathered Friends will be one of the first recipients of the Nomics, so if you want a pair, give us a call. Once these sell, they won't be available again until spring. We didn't order many, so the motivated climber gets the tools. 206-292-2210. Quote
Jedi Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 about $269 a tool (from what I was quoted). Quote
