whirlwind Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 maybe... what are the pros and cons, other than the obious lack of granite splitters is constrution down there really booming? any links or good pappers to check out for jobs and houseing? thankx WW Quote
Blake Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I think Bend's construction is booming, at least the town seems bigger and bigger every time I go through. Good rock (Smith), good skiing... poor alpine rock. Quote
catbirdseat Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Smith has lots of great face climbing. Quote
John Frieh Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Smith: Dried mud with bolts in it... you'll either love it (sport) or hate it (multi pitch trad). Depends on your climbing interests... Bend: Retirement town for CA retirees that lacks urban growth boundaries (good for construction I would guess ) and a mass transit system (of any kind ). For what it's worth remodeling in PDX is booming (and will continue to) as long as the houseing market continues to climb out of control. Quote
jkeller Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 The local paper: http://www.bendbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage The local "business" paper: http://www.cascadebusnews.com/ Quote
bunglehead Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Bend's free paper Although I never thought it was all that good. Quote
wimsey Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Lacking granite sadly, but not lacking splitters at all. Plenty of crack nirvana. Quote
