Stonehead Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Yeah, summertime's nearly here. Time also for Click It or Ticket season. Here's the shizzle: --A cop stops you at a checkpoint. The officer peers inside. What's he looking for? A kidnapper? A terrorist? This week, chances are good the officer is looking for a less frightening perpetrator—the unbuckled motorist.-- Buckle Boondoggle Quote
Dechristo Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 My grandpa never used his seatbelt whenever I drove him somewhere. He said he "wanted to be thrown clear" if we had a wreck. I had him ride on the hood. Quote
selkirk Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I was a first responder on an accident scene several years ago involving a role over with three guys in the car, none of whome were wearing their seatbelts. 1 was thrown clear, managed not to get run over (we were on I-90 outside of spokane). Of course his buddy was also thrown out, dragged under the car, and we had to proceed to lift it off his head. He recovered eventually after 5 or 6 months in the hospital. If nothing else my sister (the brand new Dr. after last weekend ) tells me the ER people are mean to you if you don't wear a seatbelt or a bike helmet They'll treat, but it may be a little extra unpleasant Quote
b-rock Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 People who don't wear seatbelts are stupid. Seatbelt laws are stupid. Quote

selkirk Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Nope, she's actually going into OB-GYN so no more ER for her. That was just from her ER rotation a couple of years ago. ... point is you can probably save more lives by enforcing/encouraging seat belt wearing than by say, enforcing homeland security in washington. Cobra_Commander Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Dammit I was formulating that very joke. Quote
chucK Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 If nothing else my sister (the brand new Dr. after last weekend ) tells me the ER people are mean to you if you don't wear a seatbelt or a bike helmet They'll treat, but it may be a little extra unpleasant If that is really true, then they are jerks. People too focused on their own problems to do their jobs. ER or doctor at all is not a good profession for someone like that (at least for their patients anyway). Why anyone would find it important or valuable to lump more pain onto someone presenting with a severed ear or compound fracture is beyond me. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 not to mention it is grounds for termination and/or revocation of license. Quote
selkirk Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 My word your'e all touchy today! We are in spray aren't we? Quote
Kitergal Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I hate wearing my seat belt...HATE IT! I do it on occasion, like when I know I'm going to be passing pig pens, etc...but otherwise..it's my life...don't try and CONTROL IT!! SEATBELTS SUCK!! besides...they make your boob look weird...I'm never sure if I'm supposed to wear it over or under or across the boob..either way..it's a PAIN IN MY BOOB!! Or ass...what-ever... Quote
Dechristo Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I'm never sure if I'm supposed to wrap it over or under or around the boob..either way..it's a PAIN IN MY BOOB!!! You're not supposed to attach the strap to your boobs; over, under, or figure-eight around the two of 'em ain't the way. And quit puttin' your nipple through the little hole in the metal plate... even if it fits, it ain't the way. There's a buckle at your right hip for attachment of the strap. Quote
Dechristo Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 might need to put some salve on those jewels. Quote
Dru Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 might need to put some salve on those jewels. the 8000k jewels or the cascade jewels? Quote
sobo Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Hey, Where is ol' 007 and his Cho Oye trip anyway??? No activity from him on here since last August. WTF? Quote
Double_E Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 yeah, I've seen/heard that saying too. for some reson, it conjures up images of a strict, pious, and persnickety (ugh.. one of those words you love to hate) Catholic school-marm. Or like a big fat recess monitor. back in like 4th or 5th grade, we had this one recess monitor who liked to use the word "No-no" -- as in, something that's not allowed. she'd say: "hey don't do ____, that's a no-no!!". my buddies and I used to think it was the dumbest word in the whole wide universe. PS... never went to Catholic school. just working on stereotypes here. Quote
