Cobra_Commander Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 (it's bipartisan, BTW) Why did you have to add that last stupid little line? Quote
archenemy Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Now if they can legalize shooting cats, we'll be in business. Quote

Ratboy Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Decision should be left to the local school board, not the state. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Umm, to be an asshole? Umm, to prevent the typical knee-jerk assumptions by the readership of this site that since the law was passed in Texas, and it's a red state, etc... The guy whose picture is in the article was all over the news stations this morning and he is a Dem. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Are you always this childish? (and that's coming from someone who's pretty immature) Perhaps you need to take a look at what it means to be bipartisan in the Texas legislature. As in, Bush was known for bringing the two "sides" together as governor. Quote

mec Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Decision should be left to the local school board, not the state. I think the president should get involved here. All decisions in the US should go through him, the courts are messed up, and states should not have enough authority to decide. But seriously, this is ridicuolous. Our government all around is getting too involved in all of these decisions. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 In other news, both sides of the aisle set aside their differences to join forces in passing a new law to...keep the name of Texas as the state's official name. Quote

Jason_Martin Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Decision should be left to the local school board, not the state. Agreed. It is totally inappropriate for government to intervene. And it is stupid for people to call their representatives about this instead of school principals and superintendents. Principals hate complaint calls from parents more than anything else and they will make up whatever rule they can think of to avoid this... As a result it's a total waste of time for government to get involved. Jason Quote
archenemy Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Yeah, but then some schools would get to have bootylicious dances and others wouldn't. Those with tough, old bastards would say "no dirty dancing for you girlies" and then those schools would lose the cheerleadathon competitions. Haven't you guys seen Bring It On? These are serious issues. Quote
foraker Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 As a result it's a total waste of time for government to get involved. Indicating the general level of intelligence of politicians in and from Texas. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 It's really too bad we don't legislate more morality here in Oregon. It's so hard to know what to think without guidance! Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 didn't they learn anything from watching Footloose? Quote
archenemy Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Yeah, that Kevin Bacon is only two degrees from the governor. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 ha that makes me a mere three degrees from governor. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 didn't they learn anything from watching Footloose? It's all because your Momma don't dance, and your Daddy don't rock and roll... Quote
rbw1966 Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Thank god both the dems and the repubs share a moral distaste for the naughtiness that is 'cheerleading'. One has to hope that they would feel the same about LAMBADA! Quote
olyclimber Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I for one applaud this new law. I'm sick of the cheerleaders and jocks always getting it there way, and the dorks and geeks getting the shitty end of the stick. Hopefully this is the first stage of the rebellion. Quote
ScottP Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 It's hard to imagine that that guy put on that shirt and actually thought, "This looks good, but it needs a headband." Quote
glassbonghits Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 I thought this thread was going to show your receipt from the hooker. Quote
Skeezix Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 As the official cc.com resident school principal I have to say that I'll study this issue and get back to you as soon as I've made up my mind. Actually, at my school we don't have cheerleaders. I believe cheerleading is an institution that has outlived its usefullness. Quote
