Off_White Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 You took those Dru? Great shots, I've seen weasels (martens maybe? I dunno, in that family) a couple times in the mountains but have never been that close (even assuming you were using a telephoto). They are awesome little predators. Quote
Dru Posted November 22, 2002 Author Posted November 22, 2002 They are curious and will come right up to you if you stand still. Not a telephoto just a 90mm on my point & shoot. Here's a short tailed weasel for comparison. He/she ran right up almost onto my boot. Quote
bolt_clipper Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 DFA is a snafflehound? Makes sense, though. Quote
iain Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 yeah, actually I can see it now, nice DFA sighting. Quote
COL._Von_Spanker Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 At the backyard wildlife sanctuary in VanZandt that I used to work at some weasel would come to the pigeon coop at night and would kill the pigeons. I'm assuming it was for sport, since it didn't eat them. I guess it was prolly goin' for the eggs. He killed like 20 pigeon and doves. So we trapped him and released em way down the river. Quote
Dru Posted November 22, 2002 Author Posted November 22, 2002 the wolverine appears to have poor eyesight and seldom recognizes objects at any great distance. it often sits on its haunches and peers about, and reports have it that it shades its eyes with a raised paw" AWF Banfield, Mammals of Canada, 1987 p. 333 Quote
