JayB Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Open until 6 on Saturday, but if you're running late just give me a call. I don't usually get out of the store until 7-ish or later on a good day, so I'll probably still be here even if I've turned the lights off. Thanks Murray. Oops. Meant to type "Friday" in there - but if we manage to sneak through Vancouver in a reasonable amount of time we might just make it during normal business hours. Quote
jmace Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Nice book Don!!!! After losing my mind on the teller last night at the co-op I went back today and bought it. The teller wouldnt let me out of the store with is becasuse no one knew how much it cost, so i threw 40$ at her and said keep the change, she didnt like that. I am glad you kept all the obscure and rarley formed climbs in there as well as adding many arond the lower mainland, good price too!!! Well done and only one weekend of cold gone by with out it the book, not bad at all!!! Cheers Quote
jja Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 any update on when the seattle shops might get it? I've called and they don't have it, and they don't know when they're getting it .. Quote
murraysovereign Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 I just spoke to Kevin. He says the book should start showing up in Seattle middle of next week, but very few US shops have ordered it, so it will be hard to find even then. Incidentally, JayB just picked up a couple of copies on his way toward Whistler - maybe you can all PM him with orders and he can pick up a bunch more on his way back? That would save the time and cost of mail-ordering individual copies. Kevin just dropped off another 40 copies here, so we've got good stock for the next couple of weeks at least. Quote
Ade Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Got my copy. First glance looks pretty sweet! Quote
glassgowkiss Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 picked up my copy just in time to watch the ice melt away. anyway nice to see it. the only comment i'd have is that too many pics makes it a bit hard too read at first. but that's just my opinion. Quote
Dru Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 i like the pics but someone should do the math and see what proportion of them are shots of the guidebook author Quote
Stemalot Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 just phoned Van MEC...apparently they got a whole bunch but can't find them in the back!!! can't wait any longer.... Quote
Steddy Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 i got them to open the box in the back last weds. over the phone, then made the trip. ah, what a sweetheart she was...persistent looking effort ('oh wait, maybe this is it')! i think you have a few days to wait now... Quote
Bogen Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 do the math and see what proportion of them are shots of the guidebook author 11 of the 74 pics that have people of them are of Don Serl. 8 pictures are credited to Dru. Quote
Mer Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Evidence of the brayshaw excuse generator in the route desciptions is amusing though. Quote

PaulB Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 just phoned Van MEC...apparently they got a whole bunch but can't find them in the back!!! When I bought mine on Friday afternoon, the dude at the climbing counter had to go rummaging in the back room to find it. He told me that it was the second to last copy. The MEC in North Van had none when I walked over during lunch on Friday. I just realized that was the first time I've been in two different MEC's in the same day!! Quote
mike_m Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Seattle REI had a couple copies on the shelf over the weekend, the Mounties Boostore had several when I got mine. Quote
Dru Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 If looking for this book at MEC look onthe bookshelf near the climbing counter not over in the "books section" with the coffee table books and paddling how-to books. Quote
Fromage Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Feathered Friends has eleven copies of West Coast Ice Vol 2 as of Tuesday January 25, 2005. If you want 'em to mail you one call 206 292 2210. This one goes up to eleven. Quote
