Let the Doctor get this straight. Are you trying to help us have a debate, or trying to prove that you are smarter than DFA? DFA was trying to point out why he thought that was a lame example of good military action, and thought he explained why. If it wasn't good enough, oh, well.

The Doctor will gladly admit that he has no background in the study of political science, and has done little research into such. But he does know that he disagrees with killing people (his original point), and he knows damn well not to put all his trust in the government's side of any story.

And weren't you the one begging for a little respect for being in the military? Yeah, you were. And then you got pissed when the Doc extended a hand on for that, which you rejected with some flip remark about not trying to be your friend or some such. This makes sense how?

Most people disagree with killing people, but sometimes there is no other alternative. War is a terrible thing, but sometimes it's the only option.

DFA,

If you disagree with killing people than you should be taking the tack that ramming hijacked US aircraft into the Twin Towers by a bunch of politically minded MUSLIM individuals is clearly the act that should be denigrated and not be pointing the finger at a government you claim is being motivated by corporate dollars.

You are sounding faintly like a seditionist. Seditionists will be dealt with if it comes to that.

The act of terrorists destroying thousands of human lives is sick, despicable, and yes, evil. DFA holds no love for the bastards that did that, so let's get that straight right now. (And, just because the Doctor hasn't studied Poli Sci does not make him stupid.)

But that doesn't mean the Doctor supports blowing the fuck out of an entire country (and by the way, weren't the highjackers predominantly from other countries, i.e. Saudi Arabia? Where our oil comes from? Suppose there's any reason we're not peppering the Saudis with Bunker Busters and Daisy Cutters?) in retaliation. Independent study has put the civilian death toll in Afghanistan at over 3,000 (and counting). If you think it's OK that more innocent people have to die for this, or that it's OK that they died because they're not American, then you are sick.

The other thing that pisses DFA off is that George W. "No Child Will Be Left Behind" Bush is using 9/11 and his little war to justify pissing away the national budget on defense spending (what's left of the budget after those worthless tax refunds--yeah, that 300 bucks per person did a WHOLE lot to turn the country around) while school districts across the country are having their funding cut to squat.

Furthermore, the Doctor finds it rather naive to assume that a "president" who did a good deal of his campaign touring aboard an ENRON corporate jet (and is now trying to deny access to information about his and Dick Cheney's dealings with that company in the name of "national security") is not corporate-influenced. The government was created for people, not the highest bidder.

If disagreeing with the government, wanting peace, and thinking the government ought to work for PEOPLE a little bit are seditionist ideals, then send the fucking FBI to the Doctor's door because his opinion must qualify as total revolt.

I hate most modern republicans due to their anti-environmental agenda. Whatever happened to good republicans like Dan Evans? However when it comes to foreign policy quite often having someone like Ronald Regan is a good thing.

I agree with you Matt when you say our economic power put those Ruskies down, but I think you can’t discount the ability to instigate others to fight them. The USSR spent a lot of money and manpower on Afghanistan.

I should point out that RR, Jimmy Carter, Old Bush, and Clinton all did a bad job and or underestimated Muslim fundamentalists.

Anyway I don’t have a huge problem with calling the freaky Muslims, “towel heads,” as long as you can respect the Muslims that are more normal.

Gotta call bullshit on that one Mike. The legendary Soviet Military Parity was a hoax concoted to facilitate expansion of the military budget. It has been shown that the CIA completely fabricated their statistics (Haven't they gotten a few other things wrong recently?). While Reagan was building the deficit buying toys, the Russians were already toast. Kruschev had it wrong: he didn't bury us, they buried themselves. The bit about opening up heroin markets is pretty nice when juxtaposed with the whole war on drugs travesty.

*sigh* One of these times I'll figure out there's a whole next page before I respond to something that's already ancient history in the life of a thread.

Anyway, the beloved Truman doctrine has shot ourselves in the ass more than once. It simply doesn't follow that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and using that simple assumption as a basis for foreign policy is butt ignorant.

DFA- I feel remiss I should have warned you... we have a large contingancey of exmilitary rangers and others... some current as well. In todays political climent it is unsafe and unwise to speek ones leftist views.

I for one and verry thankful that there are those out there that are gifted with this need for violence and the such, because frankly they save my pansey ass from ever having to look at a gun sideways. I could never do it...combat that is. So thanks to all those who have,do and can.

My hope and wish would be for wise and wonderful government [Roll Eyes] to guide our national heros in the best way possible to do the most good for all the whole world [big Grin]

hooray fror everyone (except yuppie suv, minivan driving bippy tarts [Wink] )

In case you haven't checked your history books this situation has existed since pre medieval times. They scream Jihad, we'll echo Crusade.

We have the BFG's now and they don't. They should bow before us once and for all before we get pissed off.

DFA is not going to keep his mouth shut just because of the current political climate, but thanks for the warning/info.

Obviously, this "discussion" isn't going anywhere productive, so the Doc is calling this one quits.

Here's to peace and open minds,

DFA,

OK smart guy let's see what you know.

The Afghan situation was created by a previous generations political neccessity. Several DEA, FBI, State department heads went to Peshwar and onto Northern Afghanistan to investigate the possibility of funding the Afghan Jihad by releasing the sale of Opium (Heroin) related products into the Western World to buy guns to train and fund Muslim recruits. Many nations were involved in this and it was fully endorsed by the heads of our government during the early 80's.

At the time it was perceived that the Cold War could be ended and the Soviet Union defeated using this policy. Did it achieve this end?

Afghanistan should be nuked. Before this happens make sure DFA is right at ground zero and center of the bullseye.

Oh c'mon man! I for one am sick and fucking tired of the political correct leftside being shoved down my throat in the name of human rights. What about some of the other sides right to not believe that every little bleeding heart issue needs to be taken seriously when a much larger question exists? Do you think some of these extremists are worried about the verbiage they use when they refer to us? I think they are calling us "Meat sacks" right now.

Posted

I don't care what the fuck they call us. I don't know shit about the middle east, but on thing I do know is that the culture is diverse enough to not be dismissed as a bunch of extremists pigeonholed under a collective "ragheads". I don't have my feet in the water when it comes to mid-east politics and I'm happy to consider anything but your comments discounted your message.

Yeah well I'm not narrow minded enough to consider the whole culture defunct there tough guy. I am talking about some specific objectives without the veil being pulled over my eyes about just who and what religions are propagating a limited war. Call a spade a spade.

Wow!

I've been out of town for a few days and look at the spray! (Thanks for not robbing my house Alpine K) ...And a blatant troll from my "Loser-tarian"/socialist friend Zenolith.

Mike Adam and Greg W have my respect. As for "Dr Flash Amazing"; his constant use of third-person when referring to himself and his very Avatar indicates his ego is probably boundless, and his ideas are predictably in favor of a weak America. I doubt there is any reasoning to be had with him.

I'll keep my comments short:

1) Aireal bombardment = fewer American soldiers dying. (Yes, Dr Flash...this is a good thing)

2) The decision to produce the B1 Bomber was the straw that broke the USSR's financial back. (Socialism rewards the lazy and punishes the ambitious...how could they ever finish the marathon?)

3) The Saudi's are NOT our friends either....we should stop buying their oil and get it elsewhere. (Russian Fed. or ANWR) If the Saudi's want to keep supporting Islamic revolution/terrorism around the world then we should bomb them too. (from air bases in Isreal....our only true friends in the region). We should NOT buy our oil from them! (wake up GW!)

4) Sometimes might-makes-right.

5) I'm really tired of the same old liberal "I'm-smarter-than-you-are" arguments. Liberals should realize that much of America looks upon them with the same disdain that liberals themselves heap upon wealthy country-club snobs.

6) As American citizens we are all free to make our case for change.....within the bounds of the law and The US Constitution. ....I'm not sure all Liberals today are willing to stay within those boundaries. (As recently demonstrated by WTO and comp. gatherings worldwide) Maybe Mike Adam is right. Maybe it comes down to "left vs. right"....You vs. us. [Eek!]

7) On the evening of 9/11/01 I saw images of sorrow/horror from Isreal, Russia, western Europe, China, around the world.......and images of muslims dancing in the streets and passing out candy around the world.... (including a Somali population near Seattle.) Should we really be searching 70 year old Chineese ladies at airports in the name of PC? Get real!
