Flipped through the latest copy of R&I this morning (Actually I pretty much just stared at the cover for a while)

Looks like the printer must have somehow crossed Maxim, R&I and a pop-up for online porn into one magazine. Evidently the most pressing issue in climbing these days is "whos the most pimp-daddy east-coast boulderer yo?" Apparently no one ties into a rope either anymore. What the fuk? If I want porn I'll go buy some chub. If I want climbing porn guess I'll have to buy them british rags.

Though if your too shy to buy the real stuff you might want to check it out!

well after alpinist decided to run the annabelle bond centerfold to pick up flagging sales r&i decided they'd better get with the program.

the british magazines are sucking lately too. at least climbing itself is coming on a bit. even the photo issue was ok.

It is a special bouldering edition. My wife picked it up and started cracking up at me for buying a poser magazine that would print something like " "a dusty canyon spilling over with spring-break burners from Chico, packs of snarling dogs and chatterbox beta-monkeys from Planet Hell" or " Bling-bling, cha-ching: This is a cash-money masterpiece, yo. Start on two arbitrary slopers, and then, depending on which micro-beta you've scammed from the illustrious V-sputtering hordes". I guess that article is supposed to piss you off though.

We are starting to sound like our parents.

I wonder what older climbers thought of the R&I issues that came out in the 80's?

All these young skinny people sending way hard routes wearing pink lycra and lot's of hair spray.

Gripped is starting to slip as well.... the clothing/fashion article in the latest issue was lame.

but gripped has had sucky, paid-advertising-masquerading-as-review-articles type articles like that since day one! rolleyes.gif

I agree, both climbing and Rock and Ice are pretty lame. Too much advertising. you can get the same (and some extra laugs) information (as in the mags) on sites like this, rockclimbing.com and rec.climbing. I'd rather waste my money on lottery tickets.

yeah I looked through that bouldering issue and it sucked balls. Katie Bishop is hot though, ask Wirlwind and Pandora, we met her in Joe's.

JT also called Joe's "Roadside Choss" and made up a bunch of shit about soill and said it was mossy and shitty. what a loser.
