I am curious to know if anyone has been up the ptarmigan lately. Curious on conditions of approach and route. I am planning on being up there on the 5th but am considering pushing forward 2 weeks due to the incliment weather. I agree, both climbing and Rock and Ice are pretty lame. Too much advertising. you can get the same (and some extra laugs) information (as in the mags) on sites like this, rockclimbing.com and rec.climbing. I'd rather waste my money on lottery tickets. Mike

God damn, I got chills reading that story. I could not imagine seeing my partner(s) whither away like that. I have been against cell phones in the wilderness but am reconsidering. Trying to find an experienced partner to join myself and buddy up the Ptarmigan Ridge. Flying into Seattle on the morning of June 6th.
