scott_harpell Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 wouldn't that be a tax on the poor drivers? Quote
Thadsboner Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 i wasn't till some ass much stole my bike  Haha, whats an "ass much".  Over there in germany and the likes, dont they base there fines on the offenders income? so that it is always a certain percentage of what they make a year? Quote
chucK Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 So if you're bankrupt, or heavily in debt do you get paid for doing illegal stuff? Quote
To_The_Top Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Some of the Scandinavian countries have the sliding scale penalty for speeding, see article That's over $200,000 USD. Quote
whirlwind Posted March 15, 2004 Author Posted March 15, 2004 and that means that i owe about 10% of last yrs income to the state, and this dosn't include the new tickets Quote
burgersling Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 I have to admit, I am thinking that you shouldn't have been driving. How much is the fine for driving with a suspended license anyway? Quote
whirlwind Posted March 15, 2004 Author Posted March 15, 2004 i always love it when the cop says he's givein ya a break then proceeds to hand u 2 tickets one for 570+$ and the other which will be about the sameafter i go to court. makes me want to reach out the window and grab there gun.. but then again atleast i didn't go to jail this time Quote
slothrop Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 What the hell were you doing to get a $570 ticket?! Is that for the suspended license? What was the first one? Quote
cracked Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Poor bastard. Â Â Â Â What are you bitching about? Should you be paid when you break the law? Should you only get a ticket if you've got the money to pay it? Isn't your argument non-existant? Quote

And if you get caught driving around with a suspended license, what do you expect? Quote
whirlwind Posted March 15, 2004 Author Posted March 15, 2004 the other ticket was also no insureance. i guess driving w/o insureance is kinda like tring to be a climber w/o a harness huh cracked Quote
catbirdseat Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Eric, have you scored a new bike yet? Anybody got an unused bike they want to get rid of? I'll volunteer to take it up to him. Quote
chucK Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Driving without insurance is not very considerate to all the people you might hurt, kill, or damage via some simple mistake with your ton+ of metal. Â Too bad you got a ticket, but I think it's a good law to require liability insurance for drivers. Quote
iain Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Eric, have you scored a new bike yet? Anybody got an unused bike they want to get rid of? I'll volunteer to take it up to him. Â here's some nice wheels: Â Â or perhaps a more helpful prop from that movie: Â Quote
whirlwind Posted March 15, 2004 Author Posted March 15, 2004 ok iai n now that is pretty fing funny Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 They take your car for driving without insurance in Orygun so be glad you weren't busted here. Â Mandatory insurance is a good thing. However, knowing that, the insurance companies really stick it to ya. Wait until you try to buy car insurance wirl--thats when you'll really pay. You're fines will feel like foreplay in comparison. Â And no, you won't be getting any reach-around from the man. Â I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. But, like Beretta once opined, "Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time." Quote
slothrop Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Sucks about your tickets, but I agree with chucK: don't drive if you don't have insurance. What if some uninsured driver hit your poor ass while you were riding your bike? You'd be up shit creek with medical bills and a mangled bike, too. Â Sorry to preach, but I think you oughta accept responsibility here... it sounds like you don't really have a stellar driving record (you've been in jail before?), so maybe you need to work on cleaning that up. Then you won't have to worry about The Man hassling you and insurance will be cheaper, too. Â Good luck in court, man. Quote
burgersling Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Straight liability really isn't very much unless you've got a poor record. Quote
