HerbertWest Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Why is it NOT OK to place bolts, because they defile the sanctity of Nature, but OK to drive 500 miles on a strip of asphalt, in a car, to do a trad climb in Wyoming or something, and enjoy a Pure & Natural Experience? Discuss. Quote
specialed Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 pave it all, that way we can just drive to the top Quote
HerbertWest Posted February 13, 2004 Author Posted February 13, 2004 Would it be OK to bolt a paved climb? Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 For the answer to the answer to your question, I direct you to Pope, Dwayner, JKassidy - Doh! they've all been banned. Quote

Discuss. I asked sorta the same question to this Euro bike nazi friend of mine who carps all the time about people who drive around in their SUVs, yet every weekend he drives his beater that burns (and prob'ly) oil through old growth forest to poach trails. I asked him how it was any different, and he just said "It is" Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 "Poach" trails mean to drive a motor cycle on a foot path? Quote
bunglehead Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Close! What I mean is he rides in wilderness areas and on trails that are forbidden for bicycles. Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Close! What I mean is he rides in wilderness areas and on trails that are forbidden for bicycles. That is so totally suck! Quote

scratchandsniff Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 If you have to ask you don't have the brains to understand my answer so why should I say a word and p*ss you off? Quote
HerbertWest Posted February 14, 2004 Author Posted February 14, 2004 If you have to ask you don't have the brains to understand my answer so why should I say a word and p*ss you off? Hi Pope/Dwayner!! Quote
Bug Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 Because bolts are permanent and the climate is always changing so why not eliminate both pollutants by driving the offending species into extinction at a higher than natural rate. Did you know that 75,000 years ago there was a massive volcanoe eruption in what is now Yellowstone park? The next mass killing will be by SUV. Only the strong will survive. Burly Russian women and wirey bushmen from south Africa. Quote
scratchandsniff Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 If you have to ask you don't have the brains to understand my answer so why should I say a word and p*ss you off? Hi Pope/Dwayner!! Accepted as a compliment, thank you. However, before I take any credit, how many bolts have you had chopped? I've had more than 5, less than 10 that I know about (head hanging in shame, scratchandsniff sits back down on the group W bench), so I'm not crystal pure like the driven snow like some others who used to post on this site. Now about Bugs statements which follow yours: UHHHH HUH? OOOKKKK....HHHMMMM: ......... Probably well armed I'll just sit down quietly. Quote
ScottP Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 (snip) Did you know that 75,000 years ago there was a massive volcanoe eruption in what is now Yellowstone park? The next mass killing will be by SUV. Only the strong will survive. Burly Russian women and wirey bushmen from south Africa. "The youngest caldera, (within the greater Yellowstone caldera) is 0.65 million years old." yup Bug, you're sounding almost geothistic. That geothism spins quite the little yarn there. BTW, It's predicted that certain insects will survive armagideon time. Quote
