Dru Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 I saw some 2 pitch high smears today formed up at the base of a north face of an obscure granite wall (has at least 5 routes at least 2 are Beckey routes and one a Kearney). I was across the valley with binocs so I dont know how thick but you could see em with the naked eye so they must be OK. The location has deliberately left unstated to avoid crowding but there are enough hints here you should be able to figure it out. Quote
layton Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 if you wanna do it next weekend, lemme know. Quote

Naw it was Castle in Manning, good guess though.... I betcha xxxxxx has some ice forming up high but nothing low down yet. Although there is snow down to 4000' with these outflow winds! Quote
JayB Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 Did you take a look at the NW Couloir route (I think that's the name) - the route between the Stuart Glacier Couloir and the N. Ridge - while you were in the vicinity of the Gendarme? Doubt I'm up for it but others may be. Quote
Lambone Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 Yeah, I'm not going to say if it was in or not in...all I'm saying is there's ice all over the face. I'll see if I have any good pics before this weekend. Quote
specialed Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 Saw lots of smears on Argonaut and Sherpa last weekend. Also looked like a climbeable ice line on the east side of Colchuck. Quote
dbb Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 I guess it was so good that they all decided to post twice! Quote
goatboy Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 Special Ed, Would that be Colchuck LAKE or PEAK? If its Lake you're referring to, I've seen that flow (drops down from Jabberwocky Tower drainage, I believe) below Colchuck Balanced Rock, in April. It was FAT and blue in the spring. What did it look like when you saw it? Thanks. Quote
kurthicks Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 i saw that same flow in february and it was fat and blue then. i've got a picture somewhere that i'll post later. there is also quite a bit of stuff at the lake... Quote
JayB Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 Seems like some of the stuff in MRNP might be worth looking into this weekend as well. Quote
