macardillo Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 how is it and where is it? Oh, is it accessible? I heard that it was in a residential neighborhood. I'm just excited to hear about real rock for bouldering. I'm sick of buildering. Quote
gapertimmy Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 There are some great erratic boulders down near Renton. Quote

glen Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 shhhhh! barely anyone goes there now. I don't want GG to get crowded! Quote
catbirdseat Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 I live in Shoreline and am not aware of any erratic boulder. I wouldn't be surprised if one existed. There is a small one (4 ft high) in my neighbor's back yard. If you were short and did a sit start... Quote
gapertimmy Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 wasn't there one by that bar i went to pub club at? forgot the name of the bar though. Quote
Distel32 Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 there is one in wedgewood but I hear that it's posted, so don't climb on it. probably about 9ft high Quote
ScottP Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 There's one in a trailer park in Edmonds (across from the veterinary hospital on the road into the ferry.) There is another that is accessible at an abandon airport north of martha lake. This one has some real potential; 70-80 degree highball face problems mostly. There is a 3/8th inch bolt with no hanger on top. Quote
Norman_Clyde Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 The one in Wedgwood is right in someone's front yard. Something like 28th avenue and 73rd street. It's about 12 feet high. The road has to curve to go around it. You could give it a try at 3 AM maybe, but the owners would probably object if they caught you. Quote
catbirdseat Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 I wonder how much the Wedgewood boulder weighs? If everyone on cc.com pitched in ten bucks we could buy it and haul it to the nearest park for all to use. Or for $100 bucks we could buy the house and convert it to a party pad for barbecues and pub clubs. 3,000 x $100 = $300,000. Would that be enough? We could rent the bedrooms to dirtbag climbers to defray expenses. Quote
chucK Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 It's not in someone's yard. It's on the city property, I on the other side of the sidewalk. I don't think it's "posted". But according to Mattp, it is illegal to climb on it. Quote
catbirdseat Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 It's the one with it's very own city ordinance, isn't it? Quote
Sloth_Man Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 You know you're desperate when you're discussing whether or not to climb on the only tiny boulder in town. Californians would die laughing at this shit. Why can't they ship some of that rock up here anyway? Greedy fuckers. We'd be glad to exchange it for some rain. Quote
thatguy Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 wedgewood rock we used to try to climb it about once year when I was about 11 or 12 never made it up the thing because the neighborhood watch would catch us. Seems like of alot of the big rocks are 'protected' we have a big on on s whidbey about 25' tall more around well off the beaten track but still not legal to climb. Don't think many worry about it tho as there is a crude rope. more of a place for kids to drink and drop acid if they do that anymore Quote
chucK Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 HA! No shit! This f**king boulder gets discussed every 3 months or so. "Posted" means there's a sign on it that says "no whatever". Quote
catbirdseat Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 It all goes to prove that Seattle needs another OUTDOOR climbing facility other than Schurman Rock, and UW rock. Quote
ctuller Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 another OUTDOOR climbing facility 1 word. INDEX! Quote
