That reminds me, we ran into Alan Steck in J-Tree this weekend. Dude's still out cranking. My partner was asking him about routes he'd done on Glacier Point Apron and El Cap, and he was like No never done anything there, but we did do this one route on the north face of Sentinel... yelrotflmao.gif

He said he didn't spend much time in the valley, because he was up north climbing in... the Coast Mountains. I guess he did the 3rd ascent of Waddington. Cool.

Are you talking about that 4th class scramble up in one of those gulleys at Smith. I onsighted the climb but the "obvious decent gulley" was dicey.

 

Descent gully? Dude, it's Smith Rock, the thing's got anchors and chain links. Just lower off next time; far simpler and less dangerous, what with the marmots and all.
