Toast Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I have my niece for the day today. Originally I thought I'd take her out snowshoeing, but the weather seems to have screwed that plan up. Next I thought I'd score tix to the Shaolin Monks, but they're sold out and seats are going for $100 in the aftermarket. So I figured a movie, but most of the movies out are lame and it looks like slim pickins. Any recommendations on how I should spend the day with an 11 year old kid? Quote
Toast Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 (edited) Thanks Eric. I woulda said the zoo, but i took her out there the last time. C'mon, I see the views. Somebody's got to have a suggestion. Edited February 20, 2003 by Toast Quote
j_b Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 take her to the gym, then go for a bowl of soup and bagels at the market Quote
Toast Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 (edited) Yeah, those are good one's for a rainy day. Edited February 20, 2003 by Toast Quote
Winter Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 The aquariaum ... or maybe the REI climbing wall. Quote
Mr._Natural Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 yeah, Imax. aquarium or seattle center. show her that trolls really do live under bridges. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 The young Dr. Flash Amazing always dug on the Pike Place Market, although it's maybe not as bustling on a weekday? Probably too young for EMP, but that place looks fun. Quote
Thinker Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 What ever you do....keep her away from Trask! Quote
Dru Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Road trip to Chuckanut Drive, or the beach anyways. Beach is always good fun on a rainy day. Quote
Thinker Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Create and avatar for her and turn her loose here..... Quote

j_b Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Beach is always good fun on a rainy day if it's not pouring and the tide is right, west seattle is a good place for checking out tidepools Quote
ryland_moore Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Music Museum, IMAX, SPace Needle, etc. Quote
Toast Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 So what's cooler, EMP or the Science Center? I like the idea of the tide pools, but I don't have boots and rain gear for her. I'll have to work on that one. Thanks for the tips Quote
JoshK Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Science center is cooler cause it doesn't go to line Paul Allen's pockets. Quote
iain Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 actually the Blazers need to fill out their bench a bit so music museum please Quote
chucK Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Science Center is pretty good, but I'm not sure how much fun an 11year old would have (maybe too old?). Might be cool if you go for the IMAX show too. Never been to EMP. It's very pricey! Aquarium is good. Right near Pike Place Mkt too. But shit Toast!!! Why aren't you just heading down to the rock gym??? I'd think an 11 year old would be the perfect strength to weight ratio. She'll probably make you look bad . Rock gym all the way. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Canoe canoe canoe at the WAC! Nothing like paddling around the arboretum on a day like today! Quote
Dru Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 space needle, or is that just for tourists Quote
iain Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 the space needle? under orange alert? are you mad? Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Space needle ought to be safe. If anything, Muslim extremists would probably target that infidelicious haven of Amerikan hellmusic, the EMP. Quote
