VDA is rawkin! I love that place. Food's great, too. But judging by the amount of steep waterfalls around the valley, I'd think it'd be more of a winter paradise for an ice climber.

PPS: You draggin' the younglings, too? How old are they, if you are taking them? Splitting your time between the south of France and northern/north central Italy would be an awesome way to get in some great climbing, fabulous scenery, righteous history, and see cool things that the kids may (or may not) appreciate some day.
My wife and I are planning a 'return sabbatical' of sorts when the kids hit about 5 and 7 yoa. Taking 3 or 4 months off, gonna rent a villa with a car in S France and N Italy, and live la dolce vita for a couple of months in each country.
It's our way of compromising... my wife loves France, I grew up in Italy (it's not her fault she likes France...).
