WTF is yours Dru? "While the role and authority of the PMPRB are still being examined, the recommendation to maintain the 20-year term for patent protection was accepted. On March 12, 1998 the federal government of Canada implemented changes to the Patented Medicines Regulations (Linkage Regulations) to ensure that pharmaceutical patents are respected without delaying market entry of generic drugs." http://www.merckfrosst.ca/e/health/patent/home.html The original term of 7 years after marketing would be longer than most US drugs receive
-
Sorry Dru, Canadian patents last....20 years.
-
Will- You forgot a couple key points there 1) Much of the drug development costs are in regulatory compliance aka the FDA. That's US market specific - and something that could be reformed. Fears of another Thalidomide hamper reform on this front. 2)Novartis and Eli Lilly have operating margins of ~25% That's damn good. The Drug industry has become to depend on blockbuster drugs backed by $Billion in advertising to push their growth.

Raffi Dedayn - 1st Ascent of Shiprock, among others. 1st American Maker of Oval Biners? My most interesting old biner is steel D with the old toothed gate. Too rusted to find out anymore

Isn't it wonderful that the people withdrawing on the credit card will be dead before the bill comes do. They won't even have their estates taxed!

I had the problem last year with a new pair of Lasers and several miles descending on the road. Took several months to clear up, but once the foam packed out they worked fine.

And if your interested in the competiveness of American Business on a global scale, look no further than Health Care costs. 15% of GDP currently in the US(the Japanese spend proportionately 1/2 of what we do and live longer). Rising at twice the rate of inflation. The fastest growing employee cost for most employers. So what about a Health Care plan? You say you don't want to pay for Universal Healt Care? You already ARE! Everytime an uninsured, or underinsured person goes to the ER, you foot the bill. Not directly, but in the increased rates you pay for insurance. So either eliminate the service requirement for hospitals - and allow then to turn away people who can't pay (how very French!), or provide health care for all, at least on a catastrophic basis.

I'm all for supporting my local bike shop, but lately that's happened to me with about every purchase. I find it 40-50% less online. The Flite saddle's are

I thought/hoped that this is obvious to the majority of the US population. Please don't tell me that I'm wrong. If anything Will's underestimated the problem. Not only are the politician's scumbags - so's most of their staff (often the staff's slimier than the politician). As for the American Public - count the number of "Vote Kerry/Bush in 2004" bumperstickers.....

4 Mountain Lion attacks in TWENTY YEARS! And you're getting your Vote W in 2004 Thong in a bunch?
-
Bottle that stuff and sell it to REI as bear repellent!

Bug- See earlier statistics of who has been attacked. It's not surprising that animals would attack the unaware (bikers/runners) and the young.
-
Bug- Most people attacked by cougars have been unaware. GregW- I consider paranoia "Extreme, irrational distrust of others". So does the dictionary. Statistically, wild animal attacks are extraordinarily rare in the US - hence the irrational part. I never said anything about your precious right to own a gun - I was just injecting reality into your hyperbole. Most people attacked in CA/CO have been either children, or actively participating in aerobic activity - running, mt biking. Hip holsters aren't very comfortable in either of those activities Colorado statistics: June 1970 Town of Lewis near Cortez 2-year-old boy, alone in his yard December 1976 Town of Rye 14-year-old boy, running June 1990 Fourmile Canyon near Boulder 28-year-old woman, running, was treed by two lions but uninjured February 1991 Idaho Springs 18-year-old man, running, was killed December 1994 Mancos River in Mesa Verde National Park 25-year-old woman attacked while crouching near the water September 1995 Rocky Mountain National Park Man, running, was treed but uninjured June 1996 Rocky Mountain National Park Man, running, was attacked July 1997 Rocky Mountain National Park 10-year-old boy, attacked by a lion, suffocated on vomit after the attack July 1997 Mesa Verde National Park 4-year-old boy attacked October 1997 Walker Ranch, Boulder County 25-year-old mountain biker, confronted but uninjured April 1998 Roxborough State Park, Jefferson County 24-year-old male hiker chased and injured October 1999 Bear Canyon, Boulder County 54-year-old male runner chased, not injured

What library subscribes to Alpinist?
-
Statistically you are correct. Which was my point. A gun may give you the ability to kill the cougar, but you aren't likely to sight it before it sights you (hunting be an exception to this rule) GregW- What does this issue have to do with gun rights? I never said anything wrong about carrying a fire arm. I'm just pointing out that it won't be much use in most cougar attacks. Sorry if that puts your panties in a twist.
-
GregW- Most cougar attacks are from behind on solo travelers. You got rear view mirrors on your hat? Or just more random NRA paranoia? Cougar attacks average under 10 per year for the past decade. You'd better your odds at a long life by backing up your slings everytime you rap.

It was published earlier this year, don't remember the exact date.

Huh? The only stories I've ever heard involving wool socks were when people dropped crampons/boots. Back in the day (pre Vibram) there were hobnailed boots, that gave sufficent traction to stand on flat ice. Why chopping steps was popular.

Where you moving if Kerry get's elected?
