  3. I'm not sure anyone trash talked me on this thread. It was nice to see you at the store in the ditch Coondog. Too bad I was wrecked and couldn't talk coherently.
  4. I think the Law Goddess lacks some basic social skills. I mean if you show up for a party when it's scheduled to start chances are there won't be many people there. Maybe Pub Club is too cool for her.
  5. I'm not sure you need a new section for ski mountaineering. Some quick links to weather/avalanche info might be cool. Mike Adamson has a good link page to this kind of info.
  6. How about the Owl and Thistle. Downtown under 99 (or near)

  8. Back a while ago crazyjz and I talked about bringing a gun, for bears, on a climb up north. We didn't end up bringing one, but if I remember right bringing a gun to Canada is a little complicated. You can do it, but make sure you check if the gun you want to buy is ok in Canada before you buy it. Some types of shotgun/riffle are banned.

Dwayner, I’m going to have to come down on Lambone’s side in this whole thing. I remember one Pub Club in Tacoma where MattP, you and myself had a long talk about bolting ethics. What I came away with from our talk was that you liked to listen to yourself talk so much that you couldn’t listen to a different point of view. Now I’m a trad climber, and if I think your views are unreasonable then just think what someone younger and more into clipping bolts would think. As to jumping the shark, I would agree with an earlier poster who said you jumped the shark with your little battle with PP. I think you need to either seek treatment for your, Grumpy Old Man Syndrome, or start posting on CascadePontificators.com That being said I should add that you have made me laugh a bunch of times [ 10-05-2002, 04:24 PM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]

Excellent troll It's been a while since someone posted this topic. I'm sure we are overdue for a,"lets clean up the site thread." I should point out on my very first post on this site I got messed with by none other than Alex. Because of this site: I climbed for a week in Yosemite Skied a week long traverse in the Coast Range Found climbing partners for a bunch of weekends when I might not have climbed. Met a bunch of cool people Become known for smoking pot at Muir Anyway I'm sure this place is a little low brow for a guy with a PHD (huh Dwayner); also things can get a little too nasty at times. All in all I like the site. If people don't want to interact on the site that's their choice. As for climbing community that Dwayner talks about, I don't understand. I see lots of people reading the site. What is it you want Dwayner 100% participation?

    Riggers

I'm sorry, but I think I need to jump in here. If I were looking for an expert rigger of wire rope I would talk to a crane operator or an iron worker. If I wanted to talk to an expert rigger of nylon rope I would talk to an arborist. I don't think I would go to the theater to look for rigging advice. Further when I hear someone talk about all the accidents they have been around a red flag goes up in my brain. Most accidents of this sort happen because the person doing the rigging was: A) working too fast B) incompetent Anyway CrazyJZ knows a thing or two about rigging. PS I'm sure, like any trade, there's stuff stage hands do that tree guys, iron workers, and crane operators couldn't do as well. [ 10-03-2002, 11:01 PM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]

  19. Static rope is much stiffer than dynamic rope and knots are so hard to tie. I find it very hard to believe that someone, even with a moderate amount of experience, would not know what kind of rope they were climbing on. [ 10-02-2002, 07:53 PM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]

    Yo

Despite my reluctance to admit anything in California is good; I have to admit that Yosemite is a pretty cool place. The CC.com folks I hung out with were pretty cool too. Highlights: Mass ascent of Cathedral peak, the regular route on Fairview dome, the Central Pillar of Frenzy, and last but not least the East Buttress of El Capitan which Jeff and I did despite the rain and hail. I just might have to go back.
  24. Teddy's might be a little small, but I'll go with it.
  25. Watch out Mtn Goat will start making long boring posts about how this study's science comes from people with a left wing agenda.
