I couldn't agree more. If you want to ski on, "fun," snow in the winter you are going to go out into the mountains many times on days when the avy conditions are listed as considerable. If you choose the slopes you ski on correctly you can have a fun day, but we are all capable of mistakes no matter how much information and training we have.

Last year Alpental didn't open till a few weeks after the rest of Snoq. pass.

My friend Christian and I skied up Arrowhead peak yesterday. There's some nice snow from the last couple storms, but we had to stay in the trees and away from boulder fields since there are still a lot of rocks hidden just under the surface. We ran into ChrisW, Dave Schultz, and Toast on the mountain.

Going back to the original subject. TLG insists that skiing conditions are awesome when the snowpack is 40% of average. Well if that's the case, then what word would she use to describe skiing conditions if the snowpack was 120% of average. I think she's watched too many Mountain Dew commercials. Skiing is not awsome given the current snowpack. And TLG I did see you at the VW; I would have come over to say hi, but I wasn't in the mood to talk to a flake at the time.

Lawgoddess, I have enough experience to know when someone is talking out their ass and you are. I've got plenty of things to do that keep me up and running. So far I haven't felt the snow coverage is worth spending the money on gas to drive to Crystal. Please note I don't pay to ski at the mountain. However, after this weekend, I figure I'll be headed down there.

Lawgoddess, My comments were based on 30 years of skiing at Crystal Mountain and the information (cam/snow depth) provided by the web site. You are obviously enthusiastic about skiing right now and that's great. However I think my descriptions of the conditions are acurate and something to seriously consider if someone has to pay full price for a lift ticket. I am starting to get annoyed with your talk. Ya know you come hear to our state with your Texas/Okie attitudes, and you think just cause you work for Jim Nelson you can start telling folks who have spent their whole life skiing and climbing in the Cascades stuff.

West Face of Huntington. Harvard route, French route on the ridge, A route that goes up one of the prominent couloirs (forget the pair of names) plus about 3 other routes.
