I feel your pain Catbird. I hope you get something good in return. Trask, while I mostly agree with you I do like the Godfather (Diane Keaton) and Joe vs the Volcano (Meg Ryan)

Have you tried smoking crack with that new lighter?

Well if we were smart we would spend most of our time hidding in our house. hmm but that could catch fire.... The trail stays on the opposite side of the valley from Cheops. Big avalanches obviously come into the center of the valley all the time. Most folks don't ski the slopes on Cheops; they ski on the south facing slopes across from Cheops. If you were to stay away from all the possible avy slopes arround Rogers Pass you would never ski. Especially since the term considerable is used most of the winter.

Last week we were in Pioneer Square. How about we drink somewhere in the North end this week, or maybe even east...

Yeah it's on the north side of the highway just past a highway maintenance yard.

Cman and I skied Rock Mountain today. Ok so like before I give my trip report I feel I need to define my terms since people (ahem mattp) got their panties all messed up over my last report on Cannon Mtn. Snow depth/surface conditions. 1. No Snow...Why the fuck are you carying skies. 2. Shitty. subdivided into shitty-, shitty, shitty+. Either really bad crust conditions, or you have to spend most of your energy finding a route that avoids rocks, trees, and brush because there isn't much snow. 3. Fun. Like Shitty subdivided into Fun-, Fun, Fun+. There is enough snow you can ski without thinking too hard about hitting trees, rocks, or bushes. Also the snow conditions are such that you can link turns without too much jumping and or stopping. 4. Awsome. Big base, deep powder Other terms Sketchy. Your ass puckers cause your scared of avy conditions or going for a big ride off a cliff. Interesting. You had to hike back up your ski run cause you got cliffed out. I'm sure there are some more technical terms I use, but you will just have to figure them out for yourself. Please note if you wish to use this rating system you must be certified either by me or by someone I respect as a skier. Anyway We headed on over Stevens Pass on Sunday AM and skied up the Rock Mtn. trail. The snow was pretty crusty for the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the hill. As we continued up we started to break trail, through about 6" of snow. We skied into a white out when we reached the lake and continued to the ridge crest above the lake. On reaching the ridge crest we decided to ski back down our ascent route and also not to summit since we were at the top of the ski run. The snow was Fun skiing down the mountain for about half way. After that the snow was Fun - for a ways and then shitty for the last 1/4th of the run. Given the snow conditions this year I'm happy to have gotten out, but I can't recommend the ski right now.

I've skied up that drainage a few times; once there was a private high school group on the trail. There are some big slopes that obviously slide quite often on Mt Cheops. The trail sticks to the north side of the valley, so an avalanch from Cheops must have been pretty big. It isn't a signed cross country trail, but it is used a lot. The trail starts on the back side of the Best Western at the pass, and it's a pretty easy ski up to the pass.

You right wing freaks are fucked up. You seem to think that there is only one correct view and anyone who has a slightly different view of things is unamerican. NEWS FLASH... America is a democracy...differing oppinions are expected and should be encouraged. Maybe you right wing fuckos should leave the country. It sounds like you would all do well if you moved to Iraq. You could get a job with Saddams secret police where you could beat the shit out of anyone who questions the party line. Either that or take one of those guns you all love so much and stick it up your ass.

Discussing climbing with non-climbers
AlpineK replied to COL._Von_Spanker's topic in Climber's Board
I spend most of my time with either climbers, tree guys or people who hang out on a regular basis with the previous two groups. Tree guys are nutz to begin with, and a lot of them climb some. When I talk to people who don't climb I'm usually don't elaborate much about climbing unless they are interested. Normally I find other things to talk about that we are both interested in. -
I'm 95% positive that the gardener was doing what the judge ask him to do. It's good to see the judge paying so much, and it's nice to see the money going to the parks. There is a serious lack of money for keeping things up in the city parks. Ivy, laurel, holly, and a bunch of other agresive nonnative species are killing native plants and there are lots and lots of hazardous trees on city park land. When the economy was good there was talk of expanding the budget for maintenance, but now there's no money for anything. Someday a hazardous tree is going to kill someone, and then folks will start bitching.

One of my favorite quotes from the movie Repo Man. "Normal people..I hate them. Normal people are always looking to avoid conflict while the repo man is looking for conflict."

I used to be a member. It's cheaper just to buy the AAJ. What the fuck do I get? Absolutly nothing thats what. Climbing Insurance.. I never climb in Europe. Community... I've been to one PNW AAC Picknic and it was lame. Since then I've never been to another or heard of another for that matter. The AAC is the lamest club ever. They only have one hut to stay at (Teton) unlike the ACC. FUCK THE AAC

Way to go.

I kind of like Nelson and Whitewater more, but that's just me.

I'm a little late on this, but all this talk of how tax cuts increase the federal revenue (hmm Greg) is pretty funny. Lets cut the tax rate to zero. Just think of how much money the government would have.

Dave's only memory of pub club was the lack of smoke. I liked the New Orleans, however last call was at 11PM which screwed over the late arrivers. The Pyramid place might be alright, but having Pub Club in the same part of town 2 weeks in a row is wrong, wrong, wrong. It was nice to see Jim!

He's more interesting than you.

I hope your daughter rebels and makes your life a living hell for the next 10 years, and then she gets settled down with a good life with solid liberal political views.

1. Keep bombing them whenever they try and get too uppity 2. Keep up the embargo and hire hollywood directors to depict a bumbling and idiotic depiction of Saddam. 3. We need to get along with our friends. We are big and bad and our army kicks ass, but we still need to get along with other countries. 4. I feel sorry for the average Iraqi, but I don't think we can do much for them. 5. Saddam is a prick. I'm sure he wants and trys to get nasty stuff, and I bet he has some, but you need a real reason to start a war. (The Gulf War was OK by me) 6. See above. I'm OK with our war in Afganistan and WWI and WW2.

I drive by that place all the time. I'm going to have to check that out sometime.
